Hey all I'm still hunting down the sets (besides Pearl Jam) from this year's
Bridge Benefit in San Francisco. I know there are high quality copies out
there. Have tons to trade of almost all the artists that played.
Thanks.

Can we please keep this group free of software
pirating please.
Stealing
is stealing no matter how you justify it and I would
rather see this
group free from that crap.

I agree with Wayne if you need to use sound forge go
here ad buy it.

BTW: this warez request sounded like "selling CDR>DAT
transfers on ebay so they get fried and hurt the
artist"

I agree with Wayne, can we keep this page oriented to the pirating of music only! Many Artist beleive that we are STEALING from them, but I guess thats O.K.

Hello,
I read on the list about this iRiver possible DAT
replacement.
Can anyone here comment on the quality of analog audio
inputs? Live level and mic-level (consumer)?
AGC can be disabled I assume.
How much gain or atennuation can be used?
Levels can be read back so that one could `blindly`
set a certain amplification or atennuation?
Please post details.
Thanks,
Udo

I misplaced my high-boost protection grids (ie, the shorter ones) that came
with the 4061 mic set. does anyone have an extra set they'd be willing to
part with? DPA seems to only sell the replacement grids in a pack of five
for a rather pricey fee. I would like the black colored grids if possible.

It's worth a look. Its analog mic pre-amp is noisy, does not have any
level indicators, can't change analog levels while recording and can
only record 700+ MB without having to start a new file, but fronted with
a good mic pre/A-to-D (like a Denecke AD-20 or our Mic2496, or as you
suggest, a DAT recorder), it should make a fine field recorder.
We have one here and I'm not fond of its controls, but it does work and
for around $350 it's a nice package.

I guess I missed the subject that brought this post to the list.....
You make a valid point. However, a person selling a recording
gives tapers a bad name. I am a taper and I don't want some scumbag
giving me a bad name. So if I find out about a rat selling shows, I am gonna
speak up. Ticket scalpers and bootleggers are the gum stuck on our shoe.
Unless you are a computer software developer (in which case you are probably
rich and could care less) or some software vendor, people sharing software
is not going to effect your reputation in the way a bootlegger effects the
reputation of a taper.
Yes, stealing IS stealing, but greed is greed!

Seems kinda strange that the usual watchdogs ready to jump all over
anyone trying to sell a recording have nothing to say about people
asking for help stealing software.

Hello,
James Mercer of the wonderful indie pop band, The Shins, is doing an
in-store performance this saturday at Ozone Records in Portland, OR. I'm
wondering if anyone on this list is planning to tape or if there's anyone
who has absolutely nothing to do this Saturday at 4pm? He's taper
friendly. I just pulled a nice soundboard of his band here in Minneapolis
recently. If you can help a brother out, email me at
mondraryfields@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Chris
