From: Tom Cavanaugh <Meurglys3@att.net> Subject: Mad at Gravity...and my soundcard! Date: Thu, 01 Jan 2004 12:34:59 -0500 Happy New Year Heads! Anybody got anything live on a band called Mad at Gravity? They did a couple songs for the Reign of Fire soundtrack which recently got my attention, and have a cd titled Resonance, that I think I'll get based on the 2 soundtrack songs I've heard . Next, I have some soundcard related questions up for grabs. "To resample or not to resample, that is the question." I have an M Audio dio 2448 digital card that has ceased to exist following an operating system upgrade to win 2000 pro. I downloaded the correct drivers, ran the install wizard, and the control panel icon is not automatically appearing on my desktop, as stated in the manual. As such, I can't launch the control panel software? Strangely though, all system properties indicate that the card/drivers are installed and working properly with no conflicts! Can anybody help me either resuscitate, or slay this dragon? If I can't get this to work, I may have an ace in the hole. I have an I will K266plus mother board with on board audio which supports CMI 8738 H/W 6 channel and SPDIF, via an optional Super Audio interface that I can get for $19.00. My understanding is this CMI 8738 chip also resides on the dio 2448 card. My question is, does anyone know if this onboard audio resamples? I couldn't use the I will onboard audio and dio2448 card simultaneously on my system due to conflicts relating to the chip (CMI 8738) Am I making any sense? Should I "stop making sense?" Aye carumba, this stuff really pushes me way beyond the edge of my envelope! S.O.S http://home.att.net/~meurglys3/index.html Thanks Tom
