From: Nick Georges <nick@nickspicks.com> Subject: FS: V3 and 6v system Date: Mon, 05 Jan 2004 14:15:32 -0500 I'm doing so little taping these days that it is time to start scaling down on some of my gear (and getting caught up on some bills!). so...here is the stuff V3, purchased in early 2003 from SS. 6v model. I believe I paid $1375 for it new. Includes original box and manual. It has some wear and tear on the case, but works flawlessly. 2 6v 7.2amp SLAs, custom made by me 1 Batteryminder 6v SLA charger w/4pin XLR termination. this is the best charger out there. I'll sell the whole thing as a package for $1250 firm, you pay shipping (probably $20 UPS). I will not sell the batteries solo, but I'll let the V3 along go for $1150.
From: "Alex Coluzzi" <alex@kabella.org> Subject: Antiques for sale! Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2004 13:31:21 -0800 Happy New Year Datheads! I've got a few items from yesteryear I'd like to sell. 1 Teac model 3340S reel to reel deck, working condition but one of the tension arms needs adjusting. I do have the service and owners manuals for this beast. A couple blank reels are included. 1 Teac model 2A 6 channel mixer complete with Teac model MB20 meter bridge. With 6 channels strips and 4 busses I mean what more could you want? :) 1 dbx model 224 and 1 dbx model 224X noise reduction/compressor units. Pictures at the links below. I've no idea how much this stuff is worth but will let it go for cheap, especially if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and can come by and take it off my hands. Drop me a line at alex@kabella.org if interested. http://www.expression.edu/~acoluzzi/mixer.jpg http://www.expression.edu/~acoluzzi/3340s.jpg http://www.expression.edu/~acoluzzi/dbxunits.jpg Alex >

Unfortunately it came without the owners manual. Does anyone know where I can find an owners manual? Otari has ignored my request. -M
From: mitchell@hibbs.com Subject: Re: DAT-heads Digest #979 Date: Mon, 05 Jan 2004 14:25:27 -0800 (PST) > 3) Convert .ac3 to .wav with Azid (freeware) > http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/azid.html I have done exactly what you are trying to do using the same tools...I did not have to do #3 as you suggest b/c I used the 2ch track rather than the AC3 track. If the disc has a 2ch audio track, that's better than trying to conver the AC3. The quality is quite good using Smartripper, DVD2AVI, and downsampling w/ Wavelab, SoundForge, etc. mitch

From: "Jim Kelly" <musicjaime@hotmail.com> Subject: Neil Young taping Date: Mon, 05 Jan 2004 22:02:13 -0500 In response to a question that someone asked..no, Neil is not expressly taper friendly. That being said, he doesn't seem to care. I have a friend that works security, and last time Neil was here he told security that he did not want a body search at the door...bags only. I stealth taped him from the 2nd row and had no problem. So...crotch it, stealth it, and you are all set....well, maybe I should add "share it"! I plan to tape one of his Radio City Music Hall shows in March but am a bit concerned about security there just because it is NYC.
