Looking for nice clean recordings of these two performances at the
Glastonbury 1986 festival. The BBC broadcast the whole enchilada I
believe, but a good audience recording would be great too. Any help
greatly appreciated!

Tom & others,
I couldn't agree more on this subject. As someone who searches high &
low for stuff that isn't circulated widely in the genre of bands I
listen to, I feel it is fair to ask for a rarity in return.
Putting things up on Bit torrent and E-tree, while great for recently
performed or widely available shows, doesn't allow for the fact that
their *is* a hierarchy in tape availability. It's not fair, just, or "in
the spirit of free music" but it's a fact that if you have better/rarer
shows you can ask for the same in return. We're living in a capitalistic
society and that's the way things work.
I consider it similar to many other collection hobbies. Whether it's
stamps, beanie babies, coins, books, or whatever. I'm not going to trade
you a signed 1st edition of "Catcher in the Rye" for a mass-market copy
used in schools across America. I doubt anyone else here would either.
I'm sure someone will bring up the point that it's not "our" music to
keep. Fine, believe that. If the band asked me for a copy, I'd feel
honored, and happily oblige them. They do own the music. I'd even
understand if they wanted to share it online or sell it. But don't think
for a minute that I'd trade something I worked years to find for some
"smoking FOB (insert German mic) copy!" that you can easily get off one
of the many download sites.
Peace,
Zach

I think if you have something that not many have or
has not been circulated you should be able to get
something in return that is rare or something you are
looking for. and before you know it that "rare"
recording is out there and everyone has it anyway.

i suggest you read these links if you want to understand:

well that would be about as worthwhile as relying on what is in the ATIP !
there are many CD-R related websites, forums, etc that can help in
identifying certain discs, but for the most part all of that is an entangled
mess
luckily for identifying T-Ys there are some easily recognizable
characteristics that can be used to spot them, as have been mentioned up
here b4 etc

First, thanks for the pleasantries, how nice. Second, bootlegging can
happen regardless of how you spread/trade the music, despite your best
efforts to keep it from happening. You say "once the tape leaves your hand
there's no telling who will download it", well that applies to any
technology, including snail mail trades. E.G. if you trade with someone,
even someone who does have other 'rare' zep to trade, what is to say they
(or their cousin) are not the bootlegger you are trying to avoid? The best
chance for keeping a bootlegger from making money off a show is to make it
available to everyone for free and let people know that it's available for
free. Did you tell the ebay bidders that you'd make them a copy of that MMJ
show for free to keep them from bidding on/buying it? Did you report the
seller to ebay? Unfortunately STG only directly helps those with lots of
bandwidth, but it's a start, and good old snail mail trades can take it from
there. <Sarcasm> You are right, STG is terrible, yuk, a place where people
can share 'tradeable' music. You are also right that we should all just
horde our rarities instead.
Alan
PS I looked on ebay and all I saw was used MMJ studio albums and posters for
sale.

I have a closely matched pair (charts marked 5^99m and 5^96m) of classic
(metal not plastic) Sennheiser 441 Dynamic microphones. Very good condition,
in perfect working order. Powerless(no batteries needed) Dynamic microphone
with a built in brilliance switch, a 5 setting bass roll off switch and XLR
connectors. Included are the 2 original leather cases(foam has been
replaced), 2 original mounting clips(plastic sides are broken, they hold
fine in a studio setting), 2 wind screens ($50.00 each retail) and all the
original documents including the charts(German/English). One microphone is
missing the plastic surrounding the brilliance switch and the other is
missing the chrome plating off the outside of the connector(has no effect on
connection). These microphones brand new sell for more than $1200 a pair and
they are now plastic, not metal. Heres the link if interested....

Donna the Buffalo will be in Louisville on Thursday and Knoxville on Friday.
The guy who seems to tape all of their shows won't be there. I can only
cover Nashville on Saturday. If anyone can make these shows I'll cover your
ticket cost plus a couple of drinks in return for either the master DAT or
your ability to upload it to www.archive.org.
