Im selling my DAT machine, Tascam DA-20 MKII. I purchased it new in 11/97
from Terrapin Tapes. New heads were put in & a good cleaning by Paul Plotnik
@ Pro Digital in 12/01. I hardly use it anymore, it needs a
new home. I have the original box, manual & remote. Anyone in the area
interested? Feel free to fwd this email to anyone you think may be
interested. Im asking $290 for the Tascam + shipping.

I recently got a SOny TCD-100 and have tried to tape three times with it. Twice I have set levels at what appeared to be low levels, no peaking or sign of same. Yet when I went to listen later there was distortion making the tapes unlistenable and myself very disappointed. Should I be using the AGC switch (mic limiter)? Do I just have to set it so low that it looks to hardly register? Is this the infamous bass response problem for which expensive units are purchased? Any help or insight would be very gratefully received. Pls reply offline and thanks in advance

With DVD-A coming on strong and a new DVD burner in my PC, I was wondering,
is there a DVD-R or DVD+R brand/pack that is equivalent to the T-Y Fuji
CD-R's (excellent discs for an excellent price). Is there the same issue of
whether they are manufactured in Japan or Taiwan like there is for CD-R?
Or, is there at least a brand to go with or stay away from. Any
suggestions?

i have two Sony R-500's. one has 4756 hrs on it and the other has 4544 hrs
on it. i have yet to use a cleaning tape on either deck, nor have they left
my music room for service. they have buried all other decks to come thru
here.

If any of you are into aviation, and have David Clark headsets, check out
the following link. If you have freinds that fly, it may interest you as
well. The David Clark company is giving out new earseals and headpads
(about a $50 value) to those who send in a cockpit recording. They are
using the recordings for research into noise cancelling headsets. They only
need about a 30 second clip or so, and you can email them in. Perhaps you
can talk someone into flying you to a show!

If your tired of all the teenie-bopper pop all over the TV and radio and
you're craving some REAL talent, please don't miss a Chris Whitley show near
you. He is one of the most underrated true musicians out there and is
definitely worth seeing live.
He has worked with Bruce Hornsby, Dave Matthews, Medinsky, Martin, & Wood,
DJ Logic, Daniel Lanois, Opened for Alanis Morissette & Johnny Lang. If all
these other people thought he was great, you might too.
His shows run about $15 and he's got 2 new cds out called "Weed" & "War
Crime Blues." If you don't go to a show, pick up one of his many cds.
His music is an original combination of Blues/Rock/Techno/southwestern/ -
Difficult to explain in words.
Chris Whitley allows SBD and Aud taping, you may have to give the band a
copy of the show which shouldn't be a problem.
