I go to tapeonline for maxell dds tapes. they usually
have the best price for the maxells anyway.

Cassette House and Dale Pro Audio are not accessible like Office Max and
there's no shipping charge if you walk out w/ the tapes in hand.......

has 10-Pack MAXELL 90 Meters/180 Minutes DDS Grade tapes for $22.95. That's
$2.30 per tape (cheaper than any price quoted thus far in this thread). And
I'm sure I could find even lower if I tried. A few months ago, I was buying
Sony DG-90P DDS tapes for $2.09 a piece (in 10-packs) from Dale Pro Audio

I have bought from Masterpiece also, and found dealing with them very
pleasant. I bought a pretty good supply of tapes from them, Sony
DG90P's, and it seems the price was around $2.25. These are DDS tapes,
and Masterpiece, as well as several members of this list said those were
the only tapes they used. I don't have any portable decks, and have had
no problems I am aware of due to tape length.

Hi Datheads,
Is anyone running their DAT through the S/PDIF input of an M-audio 24/96
soundcard and using a Mac G3? I have a D100 with which I am recording
mostly nature sounds. I need high quality sound and very high S/N
ratio.
My Mac G3 runs at 300MHZ and the specs on the soundcard say minimum
500MHZ. Does anyone know what will happen if the speed is slower? Will
it just transfer data more slowly or will it screw up the transfer
somehow? As far as I know the 'audiophile' soundcard sends the data and
won't resample. Is this correct? Does anyone use this configuration?
Any suggestions on how to set this up, whether I need to upgrade my Mac,
or try another configuration that would work better would be very
welcome.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!
I Taped Richard Thompson on Monday night in DesMoines....Tape came out great (5th row center in a small ballroom). My wife and I listened to it on the way home (the whole thing) and were very happy with the results. The next morning I get up to transfer to cd and the tape is blank?, I take it out of my R500, put it back into my D8, and my D8 reads it for about 10 secs then says BLANK!!
What happened? How could this have erased during playback?
Any thoughts other than the obvious "don't playback till you get it transferred" tip?
Anybody have any RT from this tour? It was an incredible show. Played a killer setlist including Beeswing, Walking on a Wire, Hokey Pokey, 52VBL........even got to meet him after the show. I highly recommend going to see him

Looking to preserve a lecture, need a taper. with such short notice i am
unable to make it out to this event. i was wondering if there might be
someone in the general area of this Lecture that would be able to tape it? a
long shot indeed, but worth a try.

hello...
im very curious to find out a bit more about the 'made in taiwan' -vs- 'made
in japan' cdr media debate. can any kind folks point me to a website that
gives some pros & cons of it all?
and since this is a DAT list, ill offer up a couple DAT b&p's from my master
DATs of detroit bands....von bondies, hentchmen, sights, etc..ill fill up a
