Reply-To: t.tunakebo@verizon.net Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 19:27:03 -0800 Maybe I'm being a bit on the picky side, but I'm a little baffled by posts offering people the opportunity to tape little known or unknown bands, simply because they allow taping. What about the music? What style of music are these bands playing? What's the scene like? Is there someplace to check out some sound bites? I think about these questions, and wonder, "Who wants to bring a few grand worth of equipment to tape a band, and not even know if I dig the style of music being played, and not know if the crowd is a bunch of stoned drunks who will wind up falling on or puking on, a deck, pre, A>D batteryback and god knows what else?" Also, "will I dislike the music, and want to split after 5 minutes after doing all the setup?" Maybe I'm unique, but simply because a band is "Taper Friendly" doesn't mean, to me, that I'm going to be a happy camper as a result of having a tape. Keith ------------------------------ From: Donald Forsha Subject: taper needed in Concord, NH 3/12 Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 22:48:58 -0500 I record all the recitals and concerts for a Music School in Concord, NH. There is a solo piano concert this Friday I am supposed to record, but I just found out an old friend is sick and I'd like to go visit them this weekend. Simple recording - stereo pair onstage straight to DAT. Use our gear or bring your own if it's better. Pay is $15/hr. the whole night with setup, soundcheck & teardown should run no more than 3-3.5 hrs. peace, Donald ------------------------------ From: Joshua Subject: Julian Marley Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 20:23:40 -0800 (PST) I believe Julian Marley is currently allowing taping > From: Benjamin Cho > Subject: Spearhead/Marley Taping this Tour: How's it > been? > Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 14:47:39 -0800 (PST) > > Hey all- > > Anyone checked out Ziggy Marley/Spearhead this tour > so > far? I have a pair of Sonic Studios mics now but I have fallen on some hard times financially and I'm considering selling them off to pay the bills. In the meantime though I thought I would see what a cheaper mic sounds like. I have heard some pretty decent recordings made with these stereo mics. If anybody has an old ECM-909 or an ECM-MS907 they feel like getting rid of please don't hesitate to drop me an email and let me know! Thanks :) -- - Franklin Morris- MURDOCKS | www.The-Murdocks.com Franklin@The-Murdocks.com ------------------------------ From: "Rich Gomes" Subject: D7 won't open, tape stuck. HELP ME!!!!!! Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2004 14:48:46 -0500 I am hoping someone can help me. I used a new brand of tape the other day; Emtec (formally BASF). This was a Pro Grade Master tape, I normally used only Sony brand or Maxell brand in my D7. Anyways, on my way to the show I popped a Emtec tape in and, once loaded, hit FF so I could "unpack" the tape. Well a second or so into fast forwarding and the D7 shut off. It came back on 2 seconds later and then repeated the process of loading the tape, shutting off and turning on again. I have tried using the Open button while it is in the cycle but it does not open. Whether it is not on long enough or just cannot open I do not know. I am quite sure the D7 ate the tape and having never fully "loaded" the tape, this is why it will not open. So.. My question is: Is there a way to get the door open in this situation? Either thru a release button somewhere or something? Has anyone else experienced this? Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2004 14:59:42 -0500 Due to the above post, I was unable to tape the Razheal\Patton show at the Matrix in Boston on Tuesday night. This was a killer show and I would LOVE to get a copy! Have plenty to offer in trade. Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance, Rich Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the 'worst' form of Government except all those others that have been tried from time to time. - Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill ------------------------------ From: Ryan Gear Subject: Lawrence Arms taping policy Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2004 19:13:28 -0500 I was just leafing through one of the local Columbus weekly papers and saw that they're going to be in town tomorrow night (friday, 03.12) and was wondering if they care if folks tape them or not. It's at a danky basement bar, so bringing gear in isn't a problem. I was going to tape the Dirtbombs at another bar tomorrow night, and I know they're pro-taping, but I've never seen The Lawrence Arms, and dug The Broadways and Slapstick both quite a bit. Both of whom I never got to see. r.
