From: roy dripps <manfunkel@yahoo.com> Subject: Sony M1 & DTC 670 Compatibility Question Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 19:46:37 -0800 (PST) Why won't the Sony DTC 670 play back a tape recorded on the M1? Is it the difference in the bit-rate or something else? And is there anything I can do to or with the 670 to play back an M1 tape on it? Thanks __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? From: david <slowtrain@comcast.net> Subject: HEBs, Zefiro inbox, the bass roll-off and dylan in detroit Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 22:44:27 -0500 after not recording a show for a while, i can't remember: I recall that the HEBs roll-off only works with the mic-in (to an M1) and not with the line-in, but does it work with the Zefiro inbox? And are the dylan shows boomy these days? anyone using the roll-off for the small halls? and finally, as a poll for those with the 4061s, are you using the standard mic grills or the tall, boosted high-end grills? thanks, dwb

From: Joe Navalance <joe.navalance@mediasupply.com> Subject: Taiyo Yuden cdrs Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 07:03:50 -0500 Hello, I am with Media Supply. I have worked with several trader lists since the mid 90's These lists include Budd, etree, dat heads, ect. I offer special deals to the folks on these lists. I have included the latest link we have created in regard to Taiyo Yuden cdrs. We have done this now to let folks know that Taiyo Yuden is not exclusively making the fuji cdrs any longer. Fuji had become one of the top choices for traders, since it was made by Taiyo Yuden. Now that is not the case 100% of the time. I just wanted to make you aware of this fact and inform you of this link in a one time email. Please share it with any traders that you think might be interested. If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Budd has already posted this information on their list. Thanks, Joe Navalance, Media Supply, 800-681-9214 www.mediasupply.com Fuji cdrs no longer exclusively being made by Taiyo Yuden Fuji America has switched CD-R manufacturers, so Taiyo Yuden is no longer exclusively making them. Media Supply is letting traders know that Taiyo Yuden is still available, at very aggressive prices. We are the largest blank CD-R distributor in the USA, and a very large percentage of the CD-Rs we sell are Taiyo Yuden. Media Supply is offering a special price of $25/100 for the silver 80 minute Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs in the 100ct cake boxes to traders. There is no coupon clipping required, no rebates to send in and no wondering if these are real Taiyo Yudens. You can order 24/7 on line at the following link: http://store.yahoo.com/cgi-bin/clink?cdrsavings+rDrFWP+taiyonotfuji.html+ This link is only being made available to traders. From: r.zarkesh <theCZark@hotmail.com> Subject: Looking for NYC/NJ FM Taper. Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 08:34:00 -0500 Hey Folks: From the Yo La Tengo mailing list: Dear Mailing List, Is it a year later already? It is. This Saturday, March 20, from 6 pm to 8 pm EST, we will once again be helping the fantabulous WFMU raise money. For two hours, if you donate money to WFMU, you will have the opportunity to make a song request, and we will attempt to play it. It's that simple, although to be honest, it's not simple at all. For those few of you not able to listen to the station at 91.1 or 90.1 on the FM dial, WFMU can be heard at www.wfmu.org If you haven't heard this show before, we can safely promise you that it's unlike anything else we do in the year. In fact, we have to promise ourselves that as well. Hope you can tune in. love, Yo La Tengo No Minidisc Please. And am always up for a trade. Thanks. ryan. http://db.etree.org/zark

From: ognelson@uchicago.edu Subject: Any Texas or Georgia free jazz tapers? The Thing's April tour Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 10:12:01 -0600 Any TX tapers into free/avant garde jazz? Check these guys out. I've not seen them as a group, but the individuals all rock so the group probably will too. There's a link below to a sample. I don't know whether it'd be a stealth or open taping situation. I've had good luck with a lot of the free/avant garde jazz musicians being open to taping, but others are paranoid about it. If this was coming to my town, I'd go prepared to stealth. Of course, if anyone tapes this, I'd love to trade for it. The Thing: *Joe McPhee (New York) - Saxophones and Trumpet *Mats Gustafsson (Sweden) - Saxophones *Paal Nilssen-Love (Norway) - Drums *Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (Norway) - Bass The Thing from Norway, Sweden and the US will be making their first tour of the US. They will perform at the ACME festival in Athens GA and continue on to Texas for the remainder of the tour. From Sweden and Norway, The Thing represents the most visceral and expressive extreme of "free jazz". The Thing are Europe's most intense young jazz musicians, yet they refer to themselves as a "garage band". When they put their energy together and perform, the collective force is overwhelming. They play with the power of a rock band, but without amplifiers. The group's repertoire reflects the diversity of their influences. Pieces by jazz legends Don Cherry and James Blood Ulmer are played alongside covers of PJ Harvey and The White Stripes. Their 2 releases on Crazy Wisdom/Universal have sold out. They will be touring in support of a forthcoming release on the Norwegian label Small Town Supersounds. The Thing are joined by living legend Joe McPhee. The American multi- instrumentalist is a veteran of the 60's New York "Fire Music" that is at the heart of The Thing. In his lyrical and soulful playing lies the true cry of the blues. McPhee is one of the most in-demand artists in Jazz and an authentic and vital messenger of its radical avant-garde. From: Bill Graham <blg9@yahoo.com> Subject: For Sale: Sonosax SX-M2 Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 08:39:49 -0800 (PST) For Sale: Sonosax SX-M2 2 channel preamp w/48v phantom power. Inputs are XLR, outputs in 3.5mm mini plug or XLR. Powered by two 9v batteries or an external battery system. Two sealed lead acid batteries, charger, and power adapter will be included. I used these batteries only once, as I did all my taping stealth with the 9v rechargable batteries. The user manual can be found here - http://www.sonosax.ch/SXM2/UMSXM2EA4.html The low frequency cut/rolloff switch is 18dB/octave, -3dB at 70Hz. I only used the setting once to test it out, and found that I preferred to capture all the music and EQ at a later time. The unit is in good cosmetic condition and works like a champ. I am selling because I got an Oade mod-SBM1 that makes more of a difference using my DPA 4061s. The 4061s don't need phantom power and send a fairly strong line level signal, so I don't want to lug around another piece of gear when I don't need to. I'm asking $625 and I'll take care of the shipping. Send email to mdp3351@acr2000.com with any questions. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
