From: casey <vttaper2001@yahoo.com> Subject: Missed Neil 3/21/04 Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 07:35:11 -0800 (PST) I heard the show in Amherst was awesome! I couldn't make it due to a strange reaction to a mineral, Niacin, that I'm taking to bring down my tryglicerides which are part of your cholesterol makeup. I turned bright red and felt like it was 300 degrees in my house, put cold cloths and ice packs on which helped then after about an hour it subsided and I crashed for 4 hours waking up with a killer headache and to late for the show. If anyone got a tape of it I would love on. I had my rig ready to roll but never got to roll the tape. Didn't get to see Greendale at all. ===== Make Tapes Not war Casey __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance Tax Center - File online. From: tom groff <tdg455@yahoo.com> Subject: Metallica 2004 tour Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 08:35:08 -0800 (PST) If anyone is interested I recorded the first 2 shows of the Metallica North American tour. Both are complete . Recorded using csb's with d100. Also recorded opener Godsmack, though the Phoenix recording of Godsmack is incomplete. At the Phoenix show I was pretty close to the stage, and at the end of the show when James Hetfield was maybe 20 feet away I showed him my dat recorder. He didnt seem too pleased. The recording actually cuts out at that time because the mic pulled out when I raised the dat recorder up. I downloaded the phoenix show and had the same problems. i am going to complain. Also I would think for $13 they would at least ship you some silver cds of the show in envelopes. Greedy as ever i say. Tom __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Thanks in advance for any advice. Tony

From: "Pat" <toaster@toasterland.com> Subject: FS: Denecke AD-20 Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 18:22:05 -0500 Hey all, Ive since upgraded my rig and no longer need my Denecke AD-20. I purchased this new in the summer of 2000, and have used it at about 40 shows. The unit still runs great, the only thing missing is the AC adapter (still runs off of a single 9v). This has both Optical and Coaxial Outs (ie can be used with a Nomad, DAT, MD, etc...). This is the same one I posted about a couple weeks ago. Still trying to sell it. Looking for $170.... Pat
From: bigjazzfan@cableone.net Subject: Hi / Need taper for CBS Morning Show this Saturday Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 18:07:39 -0700 Hi, I'm trying to find someone who could tape with DAT, or CDR the CBS Morning Show this Saturday. It doesn't air in my area. The 70's singer Melissa Manchester is appearing and performing. She's got a new cd just after a decade. I'd like to get her entire segment. I know it airs in NYC. My other main concern is a good signal for top sound quality. If you have the ability to also record to DVD that would also be ok. If you can help please email me and I'll be happy to work a trade or cover costs. Thanks Much, Mark
From: "John Reynolds" <jr@digijam.org> Subject: RE: DAT-heads Digest #58 Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 20:10:23 -0500 I just wanted make a note on Luigi's comment about metallica's thin sounding disks being a little worse that Pearl Jam's soundboard. While I'm biased, Pearl Jam's soundboard history is shaping up to be a nice study in how to produce nice bootlegs. PJ's boots have been issued for two tours, each with 3 legs each 2000 - Europe 2000 - North America 1 2000 - North America 2 2003 - Australia/Asia 2003 - North America 1 2003 - North America 2 The 2000 Europe boots were *admittedly* very thin sounding. Not sure Luigi (based on your address) if these are the only PJ boots you own. The bass was non-existent, Ed's vocals were very up front and the guitar sound was well ... uneventful. There wasn't much ambient crowd noise either which was kinda annoying. They did improve for the North America 1 and 2 legs, as the band is on record as saying that listening critically to their shows really for the first time made them realize that maybe they had to work on their sound. The 2003 Australia/Asia boots showed that change. Jeff's bass was very prominent, Ed's voice was still up front, but nicely balanced. The guitars - wow, the guitars - they sound real punchy. Stone in particular started using new amplifiers and also switched to an acoustic for acoustic songs instead of the acoustic/electric hybrid he had used for years. The two north America legs have the band sounding at its best. Check out any of those 2003 shows and you'll be happy. My point is not to defend pearl jam or anything or to knock luigi, I'm just saying that turning out a great bootlegs takes time and practice. How many of us didn't make great tapes with our new mics until many shows after purchase. It's a shame metallica bootlegs sound the way they do now, but here' to hoping they get better. > Hi guys, > I just downloaded FLAC files of Metallica's performance at the Cow Palace > ... > I also have to say that the sound is quite thin, a little worse than Pearl > Jam's sbds. > Maybe I will keep on taping them with my DPA4061...the result is so much > better...and at least I know how to split the tracks in the proper way...! > Just to let you know...
