Thanks -Brian ------------------------------ From: Benjamin Cho Subject: Best Buy CDR sales: WHat happened?? Date: Thu, 1 Apr 2004 19:22:25 -0800 (PST) Hey all- I used to always be able to stop by Best Buy and pick up a 50 spindle of some type of blanks for ~$5 after mail-in-rebate (Imation, TDK, Fujifilm, etc...). I never really cared about the brand too much for these as I just need some media to burn audio discs on. But the last few times I've gone I haven't seen any of the $5/50 spindle deals going on, the best I've seen is ~$15/50 spindle after MIR, what's the deal? Anyone else noticed this?? Do they still have the $5/50 spindle sales once in a while? I don't want to use up all my TY Fujifilms burning audio discs. Take care, Ben __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I have tried wavelab and soundforge to no avail. Wavelab has an option to keep DAT ids but it doesnt work. I have a Casio portable DAT and am connecting using a coax sp/dif. I only trade my shows out in audio and put a request on my site to not transfer my shows to shn or flac and share them over the internet. My problem is that I don't want the entire world to have my show that easily b/c if I decide that I want more shows from that band it makes it that much harder for me to get any more from them. I was on there yesterday and found that someone had transfered my show to shn and posted it. Someone replied to the post and said that the taper did not want his shows posted and they basically didn't care and laughed at him. Luckily for me, STG moderators are really cool. When I reported it to them they immediately shut the topic down and took it off the tracker so no one else could download it. However over 40 people had already grabbed it. I emailed the guy who did the transfer to shn and posted it. I told him he should of asked permission, but he didn't feel like he had the time to hunt down the tapers for every show he decides to post. I think this is complete crap, no show should ever be transferred to shn and posted by people who didn't tape the show. I know there are people out there who don't care about this and will share their shows on ftp and hub sites already as shn's, but what about the people who only trade their shows out in audio. There has to be some respect for those tapers who don't want their shows shared this way. I make myself available by posting my shows on etree, so it's not that hard for people to look me up and trade them from me. This has made me really question the whole trading thing and I'm thinking about taking my list down completely. I was wondering what everyone else thought about people taking your shows that you worked on and spent your money on, and sharing them on a site that is so easily accessible by the world? Also, why would you want to post your show on there? Clint _________________________________________________________________ Free up your inbox with MSN Hotmail Extra Storage! I'm searching for pictures of a person actively performing a single-point field/concert recording. I'm not finding much on the net...and I was wondering if you had a link to some pictures, sites with such pictures or a photograph you would like to donate (the image will not be recognizable once I'm done making the flyer). Go ahead and email me directly, if you can help. Thanks. -kris _________________________________________________________________ Tax headache? The fellow that asked the question had left the cells in his recorder for a long time, not realizing about self-discharge in ni-cads, but the NiMH are even moreso. Use 'em, but always charge the night before or you won't get those lovely ma-hrs.
