There > has to be some respect for those tapers who don't want their shows shared > this way. Respect? How is posting something you taped on STG not showing you "respect"? All that person did was make the show easily available to more people. He didn't sell it, and assuming we are talking about a band that allows taping and trading, what is the harm? In the end, people that download the show will burn it to CDR, and it becomes "audio"...the only difference is the transmission mechanism was the Internet rather than the mail. Rather than trading it to others via the mail and discs, he put it out on STG so that MORE people could have access to something you created. And it sounds to me like a fair number of people were interested in getting it, and are probably enjoying the hell out of a recording you made. Personally, I find that to be gratifying, not a sign of disrespect...I love it when I tape something, post it somewhere as a bittorrent, and 300 people download it and tell me they think they are great tapes, and it makes me happy to know that they are enjoying the music. > I was wondering what everyone else thought about people taking your shows > that you worked on and spent your money on, and sharing them on a site that > is so easily accessible by the world? Also, why would you want to post your > show on there? Why would you not want it to be accessible to the world? Why keep it to yourself or only to the limited number of people that you can trade it w/ via the mail? Isn't this all about sharing what you have thereby encouraging others to share what they have? mitch Why? heres a novel idea. Instead of spending all day donwloading shows you didnt tape, to share with the world, how about spending a couple of grand and then taping the shows yourself? That way you can practice what you preach. Sharing. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! After all, the fact still remains that the same person who is hoarding those recordings is the same one who has completed their collection by getting dozens, even HUNDREDS of shows from the community they refuse to give back to. The bottom line is that they feel inadequate in their real lives so they have to feel superior SOMEWHERE, and owning a recording of one of their favorite bands and witholding it from others compensates for their small penis size, I guess. I don't do much recording, if any, these days, so it's time to part with the good ole D8. I bought this unit brand new about four years ago. I still have the original box , owner's manual, cleaning tape (half used), pleather case, and wall wart. It works perfect and I've never had any problems with it. Can't say for sure how many hours I've put on it, but I'd guess about 250. Also selling a 7-pin passive coax in/out cable from American Digital. D8: $300 7-pin: $50 Contact me if you any questions about these items. I can also email you a picture if you want. To get to the original question, posting a show you got from the taper is violating respect _if_ the taper asked you not to. (When I tape, I ask people to share freely, so that isn't an issue there.) Seth ------------------------------ From: Stefan Cooke Subject: The Fall Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2004 20:49:46 +0000 (UTC) The Fall are on a US tour until mid-May - if you're interested the dates are listed at http://www.visi.com/fall/news/fallnews.html I saw the two New York and the Maxwells shows and the band is on blistering form, despite Mark's broken leg! Unfortunately my recordings are flawed in places (loose line-in jack on my D8), but I have a huge trade list - would love to get as many of the dates as possible for the archives. I prefer to sell them all to one person. These tapes are new and still shrink-wrapped. I looking to get $40 for the lot of 20 and I will pick up shipping to the US. Please replay off list. I need the deck for DAT>PC transfers, and also to repack new DG90P tapes before recording on them with my D100. E-mail me if you've got anything cheap (< $50 including shipping to L.A.). I don't care if the deck is old, scratched, or can't record... as long as it loads tapes properly, can play, rewind, and fast forward them, and has at least one working digital output.
