Evidence so far seems vague at best and dependent on the venue (as usual):

FWIW, I saw them at ATP UK a few weeks ago and at least two people were
taping openly (i.e. close to the stage), but with small rigs (MD + ECM
mics), I didn't spot any mic stands.

Subject: Sony D7 Power off question.

Ok, I sold a D7 on Ebay, and was nice enough to let the buyer return it
for refund when he claimed.
"The D7 arrived today and refuses to power off"
And of course I mentioned the lack of power swtich and that the unit
never did power off, but they do "sleep"
He responded
"The D7 powers itself off after 2 minutes of non use."
So.. Am I insane!? This is an earlier D7, but page 3 of my service
manual states pretty plainly that:
this unit is not equipped with a power switch, Consequently as long as
the batteries are inserted, the LCD display will always be turned on
However, the consumption of the electric current will be very small and
negligable"
Or something.
So am I insane? In the years that I owned the unit.. I never had it turn
off.
I'm kinda glad I got it back though, It was sorta one of those instant
regret moments.
Regards,
Karel
