Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chas ------------------------------ From: Kay von Subject: DAP-1 vs. Marantz CDR-300 Date: Sun, 2 May 2004 10:05:43 -0700 (PDT) I have been using a DAP-1 for the last six years, and it has been good to me. However, the people I do live recordings for regularly recently asked me what I thought about the Marantz CDR-300. They will purchase the Marantz for me to use because they want their CD at the end of the night, not a day or two after the event. If I am using the CDR-300 under the following conditions, why would it be better/worse/equal to the DAP-1? 1) Live recordings at 44.1 off the house mixer and/or my mics(phantom powered). 2) Recorder always stationary (i.e. no need to move the unit while recording). 3) Length of recording always less than 80 minutes. 4) Recordings may be used for post-production. Has anybody used the Marantz and DAP-1? Is there a product similar to the CDR-300 available from a different manufacturer? All thoughts appreciated? Thank you, thank you. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! Date: Sun, 02 May 2004 13:59:31 -0400 Does anyone know if the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum (w/internal front bay) does any resampling when doing transfers using the SPDIF in/out even though the sample rate between the source and target are the same, i.e. 48khz to 48khz or 44khz to 44khz? I remember with the classic SB Live! card, it was known that it would resample even if you were using the sample rate on both ends, which turned some people off from it as it could introduce artifacts. Thanks, Dt ------------------------------ From: Thomas Siomopoulos Subject: Problem with my Tascam DA30 Date: Mon, 3 May 2004 08:22:42 +1000 I was wondering if the owners of the DA30 have had a problem with tape not moving when engaging the FF or REW mode. It seems that the clutches used to engage the reel hubs are slipping. Any quick remedies? The one big difference I would make - if allowed - is to put the 414 in front of the violinist, not behind, and, since the 414 has a "figure 8" mode, I'd try that mode to get the audience as well from the same mic. (If it wasn't a 414 I'd use an omnidirectional mic). Then simply use the "channel mixer" feature in your sound editing program to make a mono recording, or, run the violin/audience channel through a stereo simulation of some kind, and mix the storyteller into the middle, to make a stereo recording. --Gary ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
