From: ognelson@uchicago.edu Subject: Piamenta Band in Chicago, 5/8 & 5/9, seeking taper(s) Date: Mon, 3 May 2004 07:35:13 -0500 I'm trying to find at least one, but preferably more, taper(s) for these gigs. Especially looking for someone with high quality equipment able to handle loud rock. I will be there, but I'm limited to CSB's, and have had some mic problems lately. Yosi is taper friendly. I think the other bands are as well, but I'm still waiting to hear for sure. I will probably be able to get a taper or two on the guest list to the show at the Note. Thanks. Olaf Next weekend Chicago music fans will have their first opportunity to hear guitar legend Yosi Piamenta, an Israeli-born rock guitarist sometimes called the Sephardic Santana, the Hasidic Hendrix (erroneously, since he's not Hasidic), or the Gefilte Garcia. His music is a mixture of rock, blues, jazz, Arabic and Jewish styles, sort of Hendrix meets the oud. Truly one of a kind, and not to be missed. He has played with jazz great Stan Getz, members of the Allman Brothers, Jeff Healy, Blues Traveller, and a variety of rock and jazz artists. From: ngregory@nc.rr.com Subject: FS: Zaolla 15' XLRs and Audio Magic Presto II XLR-RCA IC Reply-to: ngregory@nc.rr.com Date: Mon, 03 May 2004 15:53:19 -0400 All, I am changing my cables, and as a result, the following is for sale: Zaolla 15 foot XLR mic cables - Great sounding cable. I have them ziptied every 1.5' and can remove that if the buyer wishes. Can also make pics available if anyone is interested. Looking for $200 shipped Audio Magic Presto II - XLR->RCA 2' interconnect - This is a cable that Jerry at Audio Magic just shortened from 4.5' to make it more manageable at 2' a little over a month ago. In the process he verified all connections and gave the cables a thumbs up. Looking for $100 shipped. Please contact me with any/all questions! Nick ngregory@taperssection.com
From: <jdieguez@gts.tsc.uvigo.es> Subject: rechargeables for PCM-M1 ? Date: Mon, 03 May 2004 19:59:50 +0000 The original NI-MHs for my PCM-M1 have died, and I'm looking for a replacement. Those batteries were 1300 mAh, but the NI-MHs that I can find on stores range from 1700-2200 mAh. Will these work with the original sony charger and charge at the same speed? Or maybe the original sony charger is crap compared to current products? If anybody can recommend an alternative that can be bought in Europe, I'd really appreciate it. 3 full hours of recording time would be enough for me. Thanks Javi

They should be compatible with existing chargers, but if the one you have is time-based, the charging time will be correspondingly longer. (It will if the charging is voltage and/or temperature based too, but in that case you just wait until auto-shutoff/trickle mode.) You might want to invest in a new charger, they aren't expensive. (I like Maha brand, I don't know what is easily available to you.) Seth
