I was able to record two of their SXSW performances. If you have any problems you can talk to Gordie Johnson. So bring your mike stands, DAT decks, tripods and camcorders. I would call Grady's music as heavy blues rock. Grady is fronted by former Big Sugar leader Gordie Johnson. Band also features Big Ben Richardson on bass and Double Trouble's Chris Layton on drums. I gladly reimburse any costs associated with taping these shows. I also have over 2000 DATs to trade (mostly masters from the last 10 years). FYI I am located in Canada. So here's the post again: I'm trying to find at least one, but preferably more, taper(s) for these gigs. Especially looking for someone with high quality equipment able to handle loud rock. I will be there, but I'm limited to CSB's, and have had some mic problems lately. Yosi is taper friendly. I think the other bands are as well, but I'm still waiting to hear for sure. I will probably be able to get a taper or two on the guest list to the show at the Note. Thanks. Olaf Next weekend Chicago music fans will have their first opportunity to hear guitar legend Yosi Piamenta, an Israeli-born rock guitarist sometimes called the Sephardic Santana, the Hasidic Hendrix (erroneously, since he's not Hasidic), or the Gefilte Garcia. His music is a mixture of rock, blues, jazz, Arabic and Jewish styles, sort of Hendrix meets the oud. Truly one of a kind, and not to be missed. He has played with jazz great Stan Getz, members of the Allman Brothers, Jeff Healy, Blues Traveller, and a variety of rock and jazz artists. I just dont listen to these dats anymore and have most archived to flac/dvdr so i'm dumping these dats. I'm not sure what the policy is for getting rid of tapes anymore but I guess I can take blanks in exchange or if you wanna pay a buck a dat I can do that if that is "legal". I've been doing this for a long time so I know I cant "sell" the music. Anyways I have a list up on my webpage and preference who goes to whoever wants the most. Or if someone wants them all i'm obviously willing to wheel and deal I just wanna get rid of these..............so make me an offer. http://www.crazyed.org/dank/extradats.txt I also have a Sony TCD-D8 that I dont use anymore. I think I bought it new about 2 years ago from Sonic Sense under 500 hours on it. I've got an oade active cable, the deck works fine I just dont use it anymore. I've got 2 homemade SLA 6v batteries that will run the thing for days as well as a charger. Tons of blank dats to throw in, I can take pictures of the equipment but its in good working condition. Make me an offer. -- Matt Edlhuber medlhuber@hotmail.com http://www.crazyed.org ------------------------------ From: Smashmark@aol.com Subject: Ben Folds and Tesla Date: Fri, 07 May 2004 11:32:42 -0400 Now theres a subject line for you.... Did anyone happen to record the Ben Folds show at the Bowery Ballroom on May 5? (Or any recent Ben folds show) Also looking for Tesla from the current tour. If you got it, e-me tons to trade, and also lots of DVDs. thanx! ------------------------------ From: ijwthstd Subject: Re: Subject: FS: Sonic Studios Date: Fri, 7 May 2004 09:14:12 -0700 (PDT) I think talkers would be quite annoying whether I am taping or not, especially since concerts are rarely even loud enough anymore. But 3 x 5 cards? What if they take that straight to a security guard or just happen to have a band laminate that wasnt originally visible? It always seems to me the most annoying people at gigs are the ones who didn't pay to get in in the first place. ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? We all know that the big supersized drunk asshole would just glare at or put his hands on the neck of the chatting asshole and that would be the end of it... for now. The chatting asshole would never keep chatting at the time and risk his (or HER) life, but he (or SHE) certainly will chat the next time. Lesson NOT learned. I find that the females are usually the worst in the lip-flapping-during-performance departmant. Bottom line is, it's a fact of taping life, and we can only dream that these loudmouths (who talk even louder when the music kicks up, so they can still hear themselves) would ever get a clue. A note saying "S.T.F.U." won't really help. ------------------------------ From: Seth Breidbart Subject: Re: Assholes talking/assholes beating on assholes Date: Fri, 7 May 2004 19:06:20 -0400 (EDT) > Bottom line is, it's a fact of taping life, and we can only dream that > these loudmouths (who talk even louder when the music kicks up, so they can > still hear themselves) would ever get a clue. Seth ------------------------------ From: "DCA" Subject: Re: concert behavior Reply-To: "DCA" Date: Fri, 7 May 2004 21:01:52 -0400 Hey, I am with SP on this one. You can't tell people what to do at a concert. They paid for the same ticket you did but did not bring in mics - illegally smuggled or not. They are there to have fun and the long and short of it is: You can't tell other people what they can or can't do at a concert! Many people go to a concert to be wild and loud and drunk, and even being a taper myself, I know I can't go in there telling people how its gonna be - that's bullshit. If I was given a message, verbal or otherwise to shut up, I would basically tell them to suck my ass - b/c I am there to have a good time, and as long as I am not doing anything wrong - I am there to have fun. Maybe if I was given a friendly proposition that would be o.k., but most people are not tapers - and a 'shut the fuck up' card would especially piss me off. No, I don't understand why some people are there constantly talking to each other or on cell phones while the music is playing, but if I can tape a show w/o a hundred drunks trippin' over my shit, I'm happy. But you can't "run the show", just because you have your own agenda. D ========>>>>>>> From: Seth Breidbart "Samuel Phipps" wrote: > Geeze a little bit harsh on this guy aren't we? Date: Sat, 08 May 2004 02:23:41 -0400 Anyone have recommendations on good equipment to use to get an optimal transfer of a cassette to PC? Specifically, if I were going to get a deck to use is there any significant noticeable advantage of certain decks over others and what sort of price range can I expect for something that's worthwhile to use? Any particular filters or other Cool Edit settings that might be good to help clean up cassette transfers also? Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance. -- David Mobley dmobley@fastmail.fm ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
