From: csnmusic <csnmusic@optonline.net> Subject: Music File Too Big For 80 Minute Disk Date: Sat, 29 May 2004 09:46:44 -0400 Has anyone run into this problem? When I attempt to burn an audio disk that is over 79 but less than 80 minutes, I receive a message that there is not enough space on the disk. When I check the properties of the file, I see that the total MB for the file is considerably above 700 MB (the max space on the disk). Besides not being sure why this is happening, if I delete one song, so that the total time is below 79 minutes, the disk will burn even though the total MB is still considerably above the 700 MB limit. Any ideas? Thanks.

That's correct; the amount of data that can be stored on a CD is a lot less than the amount of music (data files use a lot of bits for error-correcting that audio writes data to). You can fit around 800MB of .wav files as audio on an 80-minute CDR. > Besides not being sure why this is happening, if I delete one song, > so that the total time is below 79 minutes, the disk will burn even > though the total MB is still considerably above the 700 MB limit. > Any ideas? Also, what flavor CDRs are you using? Most that say "80 minutes" aren't exactly that. In addition, are you letting your software put pregaps between tracks? That adds 2 seconds per track, which could push the total time over the limit. (That's the most likely explanation based on what you've posted.) Seth
