Tons of stuff to offer in trade from very diverse lists - please contact me if you get this recorded. Here's a pdf file with the schedule for the festival: http://www.repriserecords.com/cross/ScheduleofEvents.pdf Thanks in advance, DG

From: ognelson@uchicago.edu Subject: Taper friendly: Piamenta & DJ Logic, 6/10 @ Mexicali Blues Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 12:31:53 -0500 Piamenta Band with DJ Logic and Matisyahu Mexicali Blues Cafe Thursday June 10th, 9:00 PM 1409 Queen Anne Road Teaneck NJ 07666 Tickets $20 www.mexicalibluescafe.com or call 201-833-0011 for more information We would love to see some tapers there--audio, video, whatever. The more the better! Yosi has been taper-friendly for decades. Yosi Piamenta is one of the great guitarists working today. It's not exaggeration when his style is compared to Santana or Hendrix or Zappa, since those are the guitarists whose music he learned from and still loves today. There is certainly no one playing today who sounds like him. He's played recently with John Popper, DJ Logic, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Healy, and as part of the after-jam of the Jammies Awards. Check out http://www.archive.org/audio/etreelisting-browse.php?cat=Piamenta%20Band for 6 concerts available for free download in several formats, lossy and lossless. There are also some articles about him available on the '98 Knitting Factory show page. On June 10th The Piamenta Band's guests will include: DJ Logic, with whom Yosi recently had the opportunity to play at the John Popper Project gig in NYC, will be behind the turntable doing his thing all night long. This man has played with everybody and is never out of place. Yosi Piamenta and a turntable? It's a great combination. Matisyahu is a reggae newcomer who combines the sounds of Bob Marley, the frenetic beats of dance-hall reggae, and spirituality into one sweaty, funky groove after another. Matisyahu has recently started to gain the attention of music fans with appearances at the Knitting Factory and other popular NYC venues. And for the first set, something rare and special: Yoel Ben-Simhon, Leanne Darling, & Ramzi Edlibi represent a group of wonderful musicians known as the Sultana Music Ensemble. The Ensemble, created by Mr. Simhon is dedicated to the study and performance of Judeo-Arab music. These world class musicians have played throughout the world for thousands of fans. The thought of Yosi's stratocaster backed by an oud, Viola, and an Arabic percussionist have everyone very excited. Should be a great set of Sephardic/Arabic tunes.

I can send money to pay to get in if needed. Please let me know! Thanks. From: ognelson@uchicago.edu Subject: Taper friendly: Heavenly Jams Band (Oteil Burbridge and Piamenta) 6/16 Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 13:20:29 -0500 Sorry I'm taking up so much space with these today, but I can't stand the thought of no one taping these one-of-a-kind shows. Wednesday, June 16 8:15 PM (7:30 PM doors) Crash Mansion 199 Bowery @ Spring Street $16.50 Advanced, $20.00 @ the Door (18+ W'ID please) http://www.crashmansionnyc.com/ http://www.jambase.com/search.asp?eventID=216261 The Heavenly Jams Band: featuring Oteil Burbridge / Yosi Piamenta / Asaf Shor The Heavenly Jams Band: A night of music for the soul. Oteil Burbridge: Bass player for the Allman Brothers, Vida Blue, Oteil and The Peacemakers, and an original founding member of the critically acclaimed Aquarium Rescue Unit. Oteil has become legendary for his imaginative and creative Bass playing. Rolling Stone has called him "simply astonishing". Yosi Piamenta: Dubbed by the press as the "Hasidic Hendrix", Yosi Piamenta's frenetic guitar playing has endeared him to the NY jamband scene. Yosi's original music can best be described as a psychedelic stew of classic rock, Oriental Hebrew/Arabic music, jazz, and blues, with plenty of shredding. Asaf Shor: Asaf will handle the percussion duties. He is one of the driving forces behind The Piamenta Band. He has sessioned with the likes of Corey Glover(Living Color), and Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow/Yngwie Malmsteen), and is sought after as a producer. Major drum influences include John Bonham & jazz legend Tony Williams. Tapers welcome!!!
From: "Brian S. Williams" <bswillia@umich.edu> Subject: Help transfering DATs to CD-Rs Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 15:39:28 -0400 Hello, I am looking for some assistance at transfering some music from DATs to CD-Rs. I have around 100 DATs of music, mainly early Dave Matthews Band and Phish along with an assortment of jazz and other jambands from the early-mid 90s, that I would like to move from DAT to CD-Rs, since I no longer have any DAT equipment. Unfortunately, that means I also have no way to transfer the music from the DATs to CD-Rs. Therefore, I am looking for someone to do the transfers for me. Ideally, I would send you the DATs, you would burn me the CD-Rs, send them to me, and you would keep the DAT. That way, you get something, I get something, and we're all happy! If you have an alternative proposal, however, I'm all ears, of course. I would prefer to work with one person to do all the tapes and transfering, just to keep things simple, but if people are interested in only doing part of the transfers, that would probably be ok as well. I am not in a huge hurry to get this done, so if it takes several months or more to get them all done, that would be fine. Hope somebody out there can help me out! Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Brian
From: Musicfan <musicfan@rogers.com> Subject: Re: Tapes Date: Fri, 04 Jun 2004 16:13:17 -0400 >seems the problem was the dat recorder, tape plays back fine when on the same d8 used to tape This is currently a problem with my friend's D8 as well. I discovered it after taping with his D8, then playing back on my home unit. >(is this a clue that i should have my d8 cleaned/alligned? does anyone still do this?) Do NOT do this until you have transferred ALL of your tapes made with said D8. Once you have aligned the heads, it won't play those old tapes "properly"! After transferring all the tapes, you may send to Pro Digital (or elsewhere) for realignment. People do (and should) still do this. Cheers!
From: Musicfan <musicfan@rogers.com> Subject: Tascam DA-P1 Power Supply Problems Date: Fri, 04 Jun 2004 17:14:14 -0400 Hi all, any help would be appreciated. My PS-D1 power supply that I use to (a) power the DA-P1 at home and (b) charge my custom-made rechargeables is no longer working. I don't know why, it just stopped supplying power. A quick multi-meter test shows VERY minimal power coming through the supply. Any ideas? I'm assuming I need to buy a new supply, but what and from where? I don't want to pay Tascam $140 for another one. Thanks in advance for your help, Matt
From: Nick Culbreth <nickmc112@yahoo.com> Subject: FS: Neumann SKM-140s Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 14:53:52 -0700 (PDT) I've decided to move in a new direction and try a new set of microphones so I need to sell my Neumann SKM-140s. The microphones have served me well and are in good working condition with some cosmetic wear on the actives cables and on the bottom of the bodies. I have pictures of the mics available and can provide references of people I've done business with in the past for those who are interested. I'd like to get $1450 + shipping for the pair. Feel free to email me at nmculbreth@yahoo.com with any questions or offers. Thanks for the space. Nick Culbreth nmculbreth@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun.
