I know there is a lot of stuff taped but it is always hard to get such special stuff. I'm especially interested in Dennis Chambers, Omar Hakim, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Gary Novak, Vinnie Colauita, Peter Erskine, Virgil Donati etc.... Any tips or shows to offer?? Drop me a line to ricomaj@gmx.de -- +++ Jetzt WLAN-Router für alle DSL-Einsteiger und Wechsler +++ GMX DSL-Powertarife zudem 3 Monate gratis* http://www.gmx.net/dsl ------------------------------ From: anthony patrizio Subject: Cure swap Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 09:34:53 -0400 Would love to hook up with some hardcore Cure traders. Dat is preferred, but CDR is great, too (source info is a must). My Cure list is small, but has some sweet low-gen early stuff in addition to 5 mid-80s cassette masters that I personally transferred to DAT using a Nak Dragon. Also have heaps of terrific Pink Floyd and Radiohead. In particular, the Floyd material is appealing as I work hard and search diligently for the best gens available. Low-gen Floyd trades are absolutely always welcome. Send a list and I will reciprocate. Hope to hear. Kind regards, Anthony ------------------------------ From: Nick Graham Subject: FS: Lunatec V2, SBM1, D8 Reply-To: Nick Graham Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 09:58:19 -0500 (GMT-05:00) Lunatec V2 Pre-Amp. A few scratches on top, certainly nothing major. Performs like new however...if you're reading this you know how sweet this unit is. Looking for $550 + shipping. Sony SBM1 A/D converter. *Stock Unit* Absolutely pristine condition...still looks brand new. Has the 7 pin output for immediate use with a Sony portable DAT deck. Comes with the pleather case that houses both it and a Sony deck. Looking for $300 + shipping. Sony TCD-D8 Dat Deck. "The workhorse" of the Sony DAT line. Given professional servicing and clean bill of health from Pro-Digital less than 18 months ago. I honestly have no idea how many hours are on the heads...but I've never had a single problem with this deck. Never eaten a tape, never had dropouts, never had diginoise...it has performed absolutely flawlessly for 2 years. Looking for $200 + shipping. Anybody who picks up any 2 of these units, I'll knock $50 off the total or pay for shipping..whichever ends up being cheaper for you. If anyone wants all 3, I'll take $1000 even AND cover shipping costs. ------------------------------ From: gordon wilson Subject: iso Doc Watson from bonnaroo Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 08:25:31 -0700 (PDT) haven't seen this one pop up yet. dat, shn/flac would be great. Came out pretty good. We were a little far away, but sounds clean. Would love to trade it for the Ann Arbor show if anyone taped that. I had some friends go to that show and would love to give them a copy. I would also entertain a few trades for those of you who want the Chicago show, but don't have the show I am looking for. Also - BAND WIDTH TAX FOR LETTING ME POST (MORE OF YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE DOING THIS TOO BY THE WAY) - MMW 5/29/04, Summer Camp, Chillicothe, IL on 1x60M Dat, for first person who sends me an email with MMW as subject line. Imagine that a recorder samples the sound and >is never able to represent it with 100% accuracy. Then the second >recorder does the same thing. > >So, some bits of information missed by one recorder will be filled in >from the second, bringing the new version much closer to 100% of the >sound. This is especially true when two different sets of microphones >were used. >.... ummmhh... The second recorder and mics don't supply 'missing' information...they supply 'other' information - from a different perspective, with a different character, e.g. differences in relative levels of the sound sources, frequency responses and, especially, arrival times. So imposing one on top of the other, may lead sooner to pea soup than to greater clarity. Pursuing your notion, can we expect further clarity gains by combining, say, 6 extra mic sources placed randomly in the auditorium? Consider an analogy: when you sell your house, you wouldn't appreciate the real estate agent making one photo of the front- and one of the rear of your house...then blending these photo's atop each other in his darkroom - in order to provide the potential buyer with a higher definition picture of your property. Best Buy is selling the $500 Toshiba SD-H400 combination TiVo/DVD player for just $150 after $50 mail-in rebate. (This offer may end after Saturday). This model includes "TiVo Basic Service," which gives you VCR-like recording ability and 3-day program listings for free, without paying the monthly TiVo fee. Of course, you can also upgrade to full TiVo service or the "home media server" options. This model's hard disk stores 80 hours at lowest quality (20 hours at best quality), which is twice as much as other budget-priced TiVos. It also offers progressive scan output from both the DVD player and TiVo, which other models don't offer. It also plays MP3s, CDRs, CDRWs, DVD-R, and VCDs, but not SVCDs. Also, TiVo works great with C-band: I use it all the time in the "half- hour buffer mode" to wind back anything I've seen on C-band for recording to tape or DVD. For recording on the TiVo, I have mine setup as "DirecTV" which gives me most of the channels I get on C- band. Of course you have to move the dish manually (or with a timer) to the right channel. For C-band channels not listed, you can simply do a manual recording. The picture quality at "Best" mode is virutally identical to the original source. --Gary ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
