From: anthony patrizio <apatrizio@optonline.net> Subject: Sony PCM R500 Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 03:09:10 -0400 hey gang, I just bought one of these decks used (as if my first 4 dat machines weren't enough!), and I need a bit of help. First, it didn't come with the manual. Anyone know where I can download a users manual for this machine? I wouldn't mind buying an original direct from Sony, so if you know of their parts link, please let me know. Or, if you have one for sale, I'll buy yours. There are some scratches on the top of the faceplate. I wouldn't mind replacing it. Any pointers? Hey, if anybody has a broken, hopeless deck, I wouldn't mind buying the faceplate (and manual!) off you if its in perfect condition. Um, an error counter. I know there is a secret way to access it, but I can't quite figure it out. I *do* have the RM-D757 remote control, and as far as I can tell, you can use it to access secret buttons, but I don't want to take a hammer to it until I know for sure. I know Sony sells (or did sell) a more advanced remote for this machine? Is it easier to access the error counter using a different remote? The heads have 265 hours on them. Is this excessive, you think? Yes, it seems low, but my R300 has 500 or so hours on it and I've had the bugger for 3 years. I'm just kind of curious as to what sort of condition the heads might be in. The guy wasn't a DAT trader like some of us, so I don't think he used 90 meter DDS tapes, which I do. Lastly, I'm looking for some general advice, tips and tricks. Would love to hear from fellow owners! Thanks guys. Regards, Anthony

From: BCLedfoot@aol.com Subject: Black Crowes/Ten Years After/Eric Johnson and more available Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 22:26:33 EDT Hello! Was going through some boxes from back in the days of analog trading and came across some items. These are on analog but if they'll be of interest to anyone in the group, I'll convert them to CDR. Black Crowes-10/23/96 Whittemore Center, Durham, NH I have the master tape of this show as it was taped by my father on an Aiwa Cassette recorder. This has never been traded out...not sure if another source of this is available or not. Ten Years After-8/26/99 Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, NH. I also have the master tape of this. Same story here. Never traded out as it was just found. Recorded on Aiwa cassette recorder. Stuart Hamm-Ft.Lauderdale, FL 8/11/91. I have a first generation cassette of this I received direct from the taper back in the mid 90's. Eric Johnson-Summers on the Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 11/12/90. First generation cassette of this also. Grateful Dead-Highgate, VT 6/15/95. Have a good portion of this show on a 90 minute cassette tape. I have the master tape as it was recorded by my uncle. This source has never been circulated. Was recorded on Sony cassette recorder. Our Lady Peace-Ballpark, Old Orchard Beach, Maine 8/6/95. I taped this as they were the opening act for Van Halen. Never have transferred it to disc. If any of this is of interest to anyone for trades, drop me an e mail. Take Care, -Brian
