Howdy again,
Some helpful DATheads posted their info on these mic capsules and windscreens:
http://houseofmercy.org/~jonathan/Unidentified_Caps_Windscreens/
The packaging seems to match the Nakamichi CM-100/300, but the color could
make them Teac copies--according to one DAThead. The shape of the
windscreens matches those on the www.nakmics.com website as best I can
see--but then again, the color is different.
Another DAThead was immediately sure they are Sony ECM 23F capsules, but I
have not found any photos online or further information on that call.
Anybody got a lead on bodies for these mic capsules that I might put them
to use? Why would these not have any markings whatsoever? Nothing at all.
They are in new condition and kinda want to be hoisted up at a live show,
as best I can tell!
Thanks for your help, DAThead fellow-mic geeks.
Jonathan

Subject: Question: cleaning tapes
Date: Mon, 2 Aug 2004 14:20:51 GMT
I have read the past debates about audio vs. DDS tapes. I haven't seen anything mentioned about the use of DDS cleaning tapes in audio decks. Any thoughts on that? Any source for inexpensive cleaning tapes of either type? Also, does anyone have experience cleaning heads by hand (swabs or other method)?
Many thanks!
Mark

Did anyone manage to record any of the bands at the Rolling Rock Town Fair 5
July 31, 2004? I am interested in Hoobistank, Disturbed, Sevendust, and
Staind sets in particular. Have many masters for trade. The rain prevented
me from bringing in my gear.

I'm selling my Sony D8 as I don't use it anymore.
The unit was purchased from Sony Outlet in Castle Rock, CO Sept. 2002.
Used as a backup for my DA-P1 at about ~8 shows. I haven't taped much in
the last 2 years, so it sat in a case in the closet.
The unit was recently sent to Paul at Prodigital for a complete
servicing. He said the heads were in great shape. I'd estimate the
hours to be @ 25-30. I never used 90m tapes in it.
Included in the sale will be:
Oade passive 7-pin cable
original Walwart
Pleather case
6v Eco-charge battery (no charger or power cord for D8)
The unit looks/performs great. I'd like to get $350 for the whole
package....I'll even throw in 2 blank 60m Maxell DAT's. We can split
shipping cost...
pictures available to interested buyers.
Peace,
Zach

I received a copy of this show from someone today, and it sounds great.
However, it has flaws. It is a weird track at once, with 1/2 second gaps instead of
2 second ones.
It has this weird "windchime" sound which I can't tell if it's mp3 or what.
It has a ton of clicks and pops (but I think that's a burn issue, not on the
master).
My question is: Did anyone on this list either tape this show, or know who
did and can point me to them, or does anyone have a clean copy that is right
from the master tapes or a low gen version that doesn't have that weird processed
sound?
I have a good collection of Joni stuff to trade. Please contact me if you can
help.
Thanks
Wes

Anyone here taped Sparta recently? I would love to find the show from NYC at
CBGB's in April, but any recent show would be nice.
Thanks,
Wes
