My name is Mike Miller and I'm from Milwaukee, WI. I record to MD w/SoundPro mikes and collect shows. My oh-so-unfashionable tastes include Yes, Genesis, Styx, and Phil Collins (especially looking for 2004). Haven't "taped" in a while. . .my last was Paul McCartney in Milwaukee, 2002. Always looking for pen pals and chat on Yahoo! at bendrkatzz. michaelscottmiller24@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 14:51:17 -0400 hello I am new to DAT Heads.. I recently bought a Sony D8 and its nice. so I was hoping on DAT heads I oculd find some tapers and traders that taped and trade Depeche Mode? I got a good list and with a few masters from 90 and 03. my site is here: http://www.depechemode1993.tk thanks everyone. Ryan ------------------------------ From: Aaron Heller Subject: Sony PCM-701ESD failure Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 15:35:56 -0700 Here's a blast from the past. I have a Sony PCM-701ESD that after years and years of faithful service, has just died. I also have a PCM-601 and used a PCM-F1 extensively in the 80s, so I'm pretty familiar with these units. The 701 was working perfectly and then around 7:30 last night just stopped playback. By wiring the 701 and 601 together in various combos and playing back a known good PCM tape on a VCR, I'm able to diagnose that the record side of the 701 is working fine, but the playback side will not unmute when presented with good video input, either from itself, the 601, or a VCR. The video signal comes back out of the monitor output and can be decoded by the 601, so I know the cable is OK and the 701 is getting good video. Furthermore, if I press record mute on the 701, audio from the analog inputs appears on the analog outputs and level meters (the correct behavior). In a F1 this in an analog connection, in a 601 it is a digital connection, but I'm not sure what it is in the 701. Anyway, that test confirms that at least the analog output stage is working, and possibly the D/A as well. The fact that it does not unmute, points to something in the stage that recovers the PCM data stream from the video anyway. I haven't yet popped the cover off and checked for obvious faults like loose connectors, but though I'd check here first for any clues. Everything else on it works normally. I'm stumped. I've never had any model of Sony PCM adapter fail on me before and as I said earlier, I've logged thousands of hours on them. I'll note that all of my Beta PCM tapes from the 80s still playback perfectly, whereas I have DATs from the early 90s and CDRs from the mid-90s that are already flakey. Thanks... Is there a break? Recording Sunday night. Rick ------------------------------ From: Meurglys3@att.net Subject: Bruce Hornsby on Mountain Stage Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 23:35:25 +0000 Hello Heads, I'm looking for a copy of Bruce Hornsby on Mountain Stage. If my research serves me well, the show date was 11-17-02, the feed date 1-9-04. The performance included: King of the Hill, Night on the Town and This too Shall Pass. This last song, performed solo at the piano really got my attention. I'd like to get another show too, one that also includes this song given the intimate solo treatment similar to the Mt. Stage performance. Please visit my trading web site and look me up if you can help me out. http://home.att.net/~meurglys3/ Thanks, Tom ------------------------------ From: "D Heatherly" Subject: weed re-offer: Neil Young Bonnaroo 2003 matrix version Reply-To: Date: Fri, 6 Aug 2004 21:22:40 -0400 Thanks to a fellow dathead, I have 3 copies of the Neil set from Bonnaroo 2003 to offer to the group.
