From: starry_night@softhome.net Subject: shows in Copenhagen in September? (site with listings?) Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 05:33:21 -0600 Hello! Any Danish people around here? I'll be in Copenhagen for the first 2 weeks of September and would like to know of any interesting musical events happening in that period. Is there any website with that kind of information? I knew of great site (maybe a ticket company?) with listings of shows around all over the world. Does anyone know any similar? Thanks in advance.
From: valuta@gmx.net Subject: German masters 1972-2004 offer Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 14:33:29 +0200 (MEST) Having taped some recent shows and personally met a couple of german longtime tapers in the past months, i now have a decent selection of recordings to offer for trade. Looking forward to some exchange with fellow tapers and collectors who can provide details such as generation lineages and (preferably) recording equipment info for their stuff. I'm open to everything Rock + Blues 1960s -> 2004. DAT preferred. Below an excerpt of what i have to offer, sound clips can be made available on request. Hope to hear from you! Not stunning quality but Sting/Police fans might enjoy 'em to fill gaps in their collection. As the taper was into analog trading back in the 80s, these sources may be circulating (few 1st gens were traded to the US in the 80s). The masters never went straight to digital. In case of interest there are also a couple of Sting masters, recorded in between 1985 -> 1991 on a Panasonic Walkman. From: Clark Guy <guy.clark@siemens.com> Subject: RE: SONY TCD-D3 batteries Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 08:47:18 -0500 HI, John! Indeed, I do! I gave up on the lousy batteries after a couple of years (and $$$ replacing them!!! Worst product of Sony's I've ever experienced!!! :-( ). Either I power them from the AC adapter, or I use an external battery of my own construction. Radio Shack has quad D-cell trays that I was able to use. (they also have a coaxial power connector that seems to work for me) I bought two trays, and wired them together so that one tray used all four batteries, and the other uses two. I marked the unused ones as a place to store a couple of spares. I mounted them together and found that they fit EXACTLY in the right hand section of an old Case Logic CD bag. The D3 fits in the left hand section, PERFECTLY! The back section has room for a set of Nakamichi CM300 mics, a couple of ~15 foot cables, and a couple of DAT tapes, along with a small set of earbud 'phones, in case I forgot to bring my regular 'phones! (It's happened a couple of times!) It's almost as if the CD bag was designed for just this purpose!!! I've also used a 6V gel cell. As it happens, I also have a little denim zipper pouch that came with a purchase of blank cassettes many years ago that just fits the gel cell and allows a power cord to emerge while protecting the battery terminals from accidental short circuiting. IIRC, it's a 4.5AH 6V battery, and thus is good for a weekend of concerts without need for charging, I use a small automotive and gelcell charger I got at Walmart some years ago to charge the gel cells. I also sometimes use a Fibox mic preamp/fiberoptic transmitter/receiver combo for recording. I power these from 12V gelcells to avoid having to run power cords in the audience area. I usually only do this if I'm using my Tascam DA30-II DAT recorder, since it has the balanced inputs that matches the FIBOX output module. The two Sony D3s are the amongst my best gear purchases, ever! Guy =============================== From: "John M. Tooley" <jmtooley@ce.net> Subject: SONY TCD-D3 batteries Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 12:44:57 -0400 I own a SONY TCD-D3 portable DAT recorder. The batteries I have for this machine gave out years ago. Fellow D3 users what are you using as a replacement remote power source? Thank you, John
From: "Bob S." <kindnation@hotmail.com> Subject: re: ssdd mitsui maxell question Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 14:44:11 +0000 From: rjmacready <cbe77@rcn.com> Subject: SSDD, but... Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 10:30:41 -0400 Hello Gang, I know this topic has gotten a lot of attention on this NG, but I can't help myself. The last time I checked, the consensus was that if you could get CDR media that was manufactured in Japan, you were better off than than product made in Taiwan. I have an enormous amount of archiving to do, so the cost difference between Mitsui (Audio Grade) and Maxell is a consideration. I can get a cakebox of (50) gold faced Maxell "Music" CDRs from a local Sam's Club for $12.00. These Maxell discs have "Made In Japan" printed on them. My Sony CDRW33 stand alone deck recommends using the "Consumer Audio" type of media . These Maxells run about 1/2 the cost of the comparable Mitsui. With the amount of archiving I have to do, the cost difference would be about $150.00. Should I just bite the bullet and spend the extra $$ for the Mitsui, or go with the Maxells? Sorry for the repetition... Thanks Lots, RJM rjm, my opinion is that the $150 in savings wont amount to a hill of beans in 10-15 years when the maxells are actually put to the test. take your time doing it if money is an issue. if this is worth doing, its worth doing right. _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

From: "Phil Harris" <phil@nashphil.com> Subject: FS: Apogee MME Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 15:02:04 -0500 Apogee Mini-Me (USB version) bought new in spring 2003, recorded a few times with it and then put it back in the box where it has been since last summer. I was hoping to keep it around and use it with my KM54 tubes since the combo is stellar, but I need to liquidate some of this gear I have before I buy anymore. I can provide all original documentation, packaging, etc.... In perfect shape, both cosmetic and condition wise. Will also throw in the padded Apogee carrying case and USB cable with the purchase. I can provide pics if needed, serious inquiries only please. My firm asking price is $950 shipping included. (USA only) Cheers, Phil ==========================================

From: avps <avps@erols.com> Subject: core sound heb dpa4061 + bass roll off questions Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 16:29:05 -0400 i bought these this year with the bass roll off box. i just found out that the bass roll off only works on mic level input. i usually record at line level, so the filter do not work. i usually record in front of very loud pa stacks and if i use mic -20, the m1 brick walls. just curious what other people do? i get way too much bass in my recordings that i can eq out later with soundforge. but i am told that i am sacrificing s/n ratio by doing this. i am also limiting other frequencies when the recording is bass heavy. anyone know how to make some filters for the dpa4061s or 4060s that could fit in the batt box and work at line level? thx avps@erols.com
