GG ------------------------------ From: "DRider" Subject: Re: Ghost tour Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 06:48:25 -0400 Jim, Could you please post some more info about this band "Ghost" to the list??? 1) Are they taping friendly? video friendly? 2) SBD patches available? or just audience taping?? 3) Contact for the band / name of soundman - in case we get hassled at the door?? 4) website? 5) link to some tunes to give us an idea of what they sound like? Why am I asking these questions?? This info is ALL stuff that people wanna know before they head out w/ equipment. Does one take cables for SBD access? Take the video camera too? Stealth rig or full rig? Also, I have been on this list for about 7 or 8 years.... and if you would check the archive, over the years I have made numerous requests to tape bands or special events. Some taping friendly and some not. In all this time NO ONE and I do mean NO ONE has EVER and I do mean EVER gotten back w/ me and said, "Hey, I taped such and such. I saw your post and thought you might be interested in a copying. Wanna trade etc...?" However, every time I make a post like that, I get a number of emails from people in the same boat as me and looking for a copy of the same stuff. They usually read something like, "Hey, did anyone ever respond to you request for such and such? If so, I would love to get a copy too...?" BTW - No, I still have NOT found a copy of Black Sabbath's recent Camden, NJ performance w/ Halford on vocals. Has anyone else??? Like my good friend Sean said a long time ago, Taping is a TEAM SPORT. Unfortunately, time and time again, people forget that. So if you really wanna trade some shows by the band Ghost, you may want to spoon feed the uninitiated some useful info. Otherwise, your responses may be few and far between and only include the people who are already knowledgeable of this band. Best Wishes, D-Rider ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From: tesla69@threelobed.com Subject: Ghost tour Date: Thu, 16 Sep 2004 09:20:19 -0700 (PDT) The amazing Ghost are touring the US starting next week. I'm planning on being at the NYC show and would love to trade for other shows, as well as shows from past tours i don't have. Ghost are a great psychedelic band, a rich blend of dense folk, acid rock and drone, featuring IMO the amazing guitar work of Michio Kurihara. cheers Jim Ghost 9-21 - New York, NY - Knitting Factory w/ PG Six 9-22 - Cambridge, MA - Middle East Club 9-23 - Philadelphia, PA - Khyber w/ Espers 9-24 - Pittsburgh, PA - Andy Warhol Museum Theater w/ Six Organs Of Admittance 9-25 - Columbus, OH - Wexner Center for the Arts w/ Six Organs Of Admittance 9-26 - Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle w/ Adventures In Music 9-27 - Minneapolis, MN - Triple Rock w/ Six Organs Of Admittance 9-29 - Missoula, MT - The Other Side w/ White Magic 9-30 - Seattle, WA - Chop Suey w/ White Magic 10-1 - Portland, OR - Berbati's Pan w/ White Magic 10-2 - San Francisco, CA - Independent w/ White Magic 10-3 - Los Angeles, CA - Spaceland w/ White Magic ------------------------------ From: Wayne Hoxsie Subject: Re: Asus optical out Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 12:17:44 -0500 Kevin Kachel wrote: > hey guys, > just wondering if anyone has any experience with asus motherboards > concerning digital output. > > I have an a7v333 w/ optical out and need to know if it can output > 16/44.1, 16/48, and 24/48 without resampling anything. > > thanks! > > Kevin According to ASUS, this board uses the CMI 8738 audio chip: Get the C-Media audio stack from: It has a a mixer application that allows control of the digital I/O lines. -- Wayne D. After much research, about all I can say is that USB audio is not well defined. Under linux, the supported devices I've tried seem to maintain bit-perfect fidelity, but under windows, this is not always the case. I suspect that the actual device is maintaining bitstream integrity, but that the Windows USB drivers are dropping bits here and there due to latency issues or somesuch. I suppose tuning the OS could help, but I'm not much of Windows user and haven't bothered to try. Since the loose USB audio specs that I've seen seem to indicate that 100% bitstream integrity is not guaranteed, I suppose that windows doesn't bother with trying to maintain it as it must with say a USB mass storage device. In short, I don't think that the cabling is all that important. -- Wayne D. Anyone have experience using NiMh batteries? I gather it depends on the current consumption of the mic's as to how long your batteries last. So far, I have yet to run out of juice running alkalines at 3 hours or less but the unit seems to hit the 14-12V range rather quickly without much consistency. Anyone run outboard batteries? Either 12V or 24V with a doubling circuit? tia, Adam ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
