i think the only method that works is to bid up
the items to ridiculous prices and then refuse to
pay because the item is a CDR... but this only
works to piss off the seller, who will probably
still continue to sell them without any problems
from ebay...
(if you choose this method, you should probably
set up a brand new "fake" account... because ebay
could take action against you and delete your
account for continued non-pay (and you lose all
your hard-earned feedback, etc.).
other than that, don't expect Ebay to do anything
about the bootleg sales unless you are a lawyer
from the artists's record label...
the reason i say this is because some tool has
been selling a Ryan Adams show that I recorded in
2000 for several weeks now... he actually has
several Ryan Adams shows for sale at any give
time... i reported every single one of his
auctions multiple times as "bootleg sales" (it
was something like 20 auctions up at once)... I
even had a friend of mine also report the exact
same 20 items as a violation of their bootleg
policy...
BUT EBAY HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT!
similarly, I found some advance copies of a
friend's band's cd on ebay... this was last
summer, and the advance copies were floating
around about 2 month before the offical album was
going to come out... my friend and i (and several
other people) emailed ebay to complain that these
cds are promo copies, and are actually "property
of the record company", etc ... but nothing was
done on ebay's part... then we got the record
label involved... and when their lawyers
contacted ebay, the auctions for those cds came
down in a hurry.

anyway, I wasn't finished... i forgot to mention
another thing about the Ryan Adams bootleg
seller... two people did bid some of his cd's up
to over $300... and then left negative feedback
when they won... they said something like "this
guy is illegally selling bootleg recordings that
can be downloaded for free at
www.somewebsite.com...
you know what ebay did?... they removed the
negative feedback for the seller about 2 days
later... probably after he complained that the
buyers did not pay... like i said, ebay does not
care about bootleg sales... they're still getting
their cut... so why rock the boat?
anyway, if anyone is bored and wants to report
the ebay bootleg seller that i mentioned, then be
my guest... i doubt that ebay will do anything...
he currently has about 25-30 Ryan Adams shows for
sales... his two known id's are:
musicalshapes2003
and
