Living in the Los Angeles area, god knows there are attorneys on every
corner. A friend of mine who is an attorney working in entertainment
law told me years ago, that once a band has allowed taping, or has
allowed their recordings to be distributed, has basicly given up their
intellectual property/copyright rights on the recording in question.
The issue becomes one of who has the attorneys to protect their claims.
I think that many successful bands can afford to tie up any bootlegging
with attorneys and the court system to the point that anyone who is
acting at the edge of the envelope of questionable rights, is going to
wind up with legal expenses that are beyond the affordability of the guy
who may hope to sell a few thousand copies of the show. I am not trying
to promote bootlegging, I simply am passing on information that was give
to me. I personally don't want to rip off what I have gotten out of
generosity.
On the other hand, I do have some questions about artists, and their
involvement in selling bootleg recordings, like Clapton. It never
ceases to amaze me how many of his concerts wind up as bootlegs, with
great crisp soundboards. There are so many of Clapton's shows out on
bootlegs, it seems like they are pretty lame about securing their
sounboard, or they are cooperating, and getting money for bootlegs.
I do not bootleg. These are just observations I have made.

I tried to sell a boxed set of LPs (George Harrison) a year or so ago, and
offered to include a CDR transfer with the LPs so that the buyer would not
have to transfer it themselves, and EBay pulled the auction and suspended my
account.
It took three weeks of email exchanges to get my account running again.

Being financially strapped sucks and I'm forced to part with my D7.
The estimated usage (recording and playback) is around 20 - 30 hours.
Before I bought it (used), it had been sent in to be refurbished. I had
everything that was done to it saved in an email but I lost it in a hard
drive crash and unfortunately can't remember the name of the guy who
sold it to me. There's a small ding in one corner but it's purely
cosmetic. I'm also including the Sony 7-pin cable and some fresh batteries.
I don't have a firm asking price in mind, so feel free to send in any
reasonable offers. I have some pictures as well if you're interested.
Thanks for your time,
Daniel

If you would so kind as to tape JJ Grey's (Mofro) solo acoustic opening
set, that would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Daniel

I have been patching with my D8 for over 4 years and I finally want to get
my own mic to record with in small theatres, clubs and bars. For now, I
want to spend under $100 for just the mic. I found a Sony ECM-MS907 for
around $56. Can anyone give me feedback on this one? Does anyone know of
any other mics that are better...for under a $100? I am willing to upgrade
down the line when my budget can handle it. Thanks in advance for any info.
Kenny
