Date: Wed, 20 Oct 2004 23:50:54 -0700 (PDT) I was just wondering, any thought? Which tape sounds better: 1. A tape from a tricked out rig that needs to be set up in the back of the room or.. 2. A portable rig up next to the speaker stack After years of recording, i think number 2 is my choice.... all else remaiming constant. My personal favorite is in direct line of the stack that funnell's the sound in my direction.... anyone else???? .... since you all seem to have opinions bout everything.... ===== Cheers, Matt Check me out at: Loud*Live*Local @ http://www.sfstation.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thanks, Clint cpr12378@hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: Klay Anderson Subject: Re: More Edirol R1 News. Date: Thu, 21 Oct 2004 06:45:52 -0600 I have some updates on the R1. It will do 2gb cards and probably larger-they just have not won the lottery to buy a 4gb card to try. Here are some bullet points: The R-1 makes recording Interviews a snap! From Power On to Recording takes only 3 seconds and the processing offers the Journalist every chance to get a great recording, and then drop the recording directly to the computer through USB2.0 for editing. Radio Broadcasters Leave your cassette recorder at home. Breaking news? The R-1 has a built-in limiter and EQ settings designed for speech. You'll never want to be caught without your R-1. Sound Designers The R-1 can record ANYWHERE, without generating any mechanical noise. Whether recording nature sounds, sound effects, or whatever else you can think of, the R-1 offers a compact portable option for capturing it. Music Students Record lessons, practice to the built-in metronome, Learn to play difficult passages with the half speed playback, repeat difficult sections with A-B Repeat, Tune your instrument with the chromatic tone generator. Hobby Musicians Record jam sessions, or just sit down and mess around until you find something you like...want to hear it again? Stop recording, play it back... Public Speakers Record your speeches for posterity, drag them directly to your computer through USB2.0 and burn CDs or record directly to MP3 to post on the internet. Music Enthusiasts Record a concert without having extensive cabling or excessive peripherals to connect, or save your MP3 collection to CF memory and use the R-1 as a portable audio playback device. Scientists Capture high-quality audio for analysis and experimentation. More as it becomes available. Taking pre-orders now for late November/early December delivery.
