hey folks,
for anyone even remotely curious, camper van beethoven
is on tour and sounding better than ever. they have a
new album out (New Roman Times), are playing many of
its great tunes, alongside the large assortment of
tunes from all of their albums
and are taper friendly (their policy same as
dead's...and aud recording only)
if you can tape a show, i'd love to hear from
you...but please do share w/band; all friendly
guys...can see bassist victor k and find out where to
send.
you may have also heard that the band's gear was
ripped off in montreal...the band is soldiering on
with borrowed gear, and heading off to europe in
november/december.
check out the band site for more...and keep an eye out
for their gear...there's a link on the site w/pics and
descriptons of what was taken

Subject: 7 Pin Digi-In Problem... Core Sound Product Question
Date: Wed, 27 Oct 2004 21:59:58 -0400
Howdy Friends,
I am using an older Core Sound Coax-To-7-Pin <Digi-in> Cable with my D7.
A picture of the newer version of the cable can be found here:
http://tinyurl.com/5r3x7
What's going on is that I am no longer able to get Digi-in to work.
Digi-out works fine...
No other Digi-in (or in/out) cable that i've tried will work. The cable
DOES work fine with other decks.
I've had folks in the know look at it an say that the longish pins of the
old style cable must have been jammed too far into the the 7-Pin socket,
stretching the contacts to the point of making them loose contact. Have you
seen this problem?
I checked with our good man Len at Core Sound, and he indicates that the
Core Sound cable does not damage the jack in any way. I do not doubt Len,
he has been a wonderful vendor and friend to us here at Dat-Heads. I just
want to make sure that this is a fluke, and not a product issue we need to
be aware of.
Also, do you know anyone who wants a good deal on a d7 that works perfectly
EXCEPT the Digi-In? Or do you know anyone who will replace the 7-Pin jack
at a reasonable price?
If you read this far, please accept my bandwidth tax of a single disc B&P of
the killer (DSBD) show New Monsoon put on last Saturday at Magfest 10-23-04.
For this just email me off list with the subject ... Got My Mag On With New
Monsoon
Cheers,
Dave (of Sam and Dave)
