I'm in the process of buying my first set of Nakamichi Mics. This
will be the first time i've ever ran mics on a stand and with a
preamp. So...I'm curious as to what Preamp the Datheads recommend for
the Naks? Money really isn't an option, but the main part is making
sure that I will be using, will be quality equipment to make Quality
tapes. To give you some insight as to what I tape, I normally tape
rock bands in Small to medium sized clubs. I've looked at the V3,
which is nice and offers great features for the open taping hobbyist.
I've also looked at the UA-5, with the warm mod as well as the digi
mod. Again, a nice preamp with ADC features for future HDD recording.
I've also taken an interest recently into the Sonosax SX-M2 (with the
lemo mod). I've heard a few recordings recently with this and I loved
the way they sounded.
But, I really want to know what the DATheads have to say on this, as I
know alot of you have a great deal more taping experience than myself.

I'm compiling bookmarks to venues around the country and would like to
hear from people who have done this for their own city already - or at
least know their local venues.
For example, I'm in NYC and have in my browser a profile of all the
local venues pointing to their respective web site. I'd like to have
this for other cities as well.
If there is a local paper that has a lot of ads for upcoming shows,
please point me in the right direction (like the Village Voice of NYC,
or Chicago Reader, Nashville Scene, etc).
I'm aware of pollstar and of course ticketmaster for their venues, but
I'm more concerned with venues that don't host big name events -- places
in the 50-1000 capacity.
So, if you know what the local venues are in your city and their web
pages, please email me. I'm looking for about any venue except those in
NYC.
I'll post something once I finish this project as I think it would be a
good resource for many of us.

i'm after tapers over the next month for a band from Australia called
Bluebottle Kiss. i will cover expenses. the best genre i can use to describe
them is indie rock. they have supported muse, interpol, sparta over the last

they are taper/filmer friendly but i have no idea if the venues are. they
also allow sbd access.
