Date: Sat, 20 Nov 2004 01:22:16 -0700 Hey all... I just got the opportunity to pick up a matched pair of Blue Bottle Tube Mics with B2 and B5 caps for an extremely good price (I think). I knew the original owner and they have been used in a smoke free studio and have about 500 hours recorded through them. Everything is described in like new shape (mics, case, shock mounts, cables and power adapters). The deal seems to be a least 1k-2k+ less than the going EBay prices (and much less than the www site). I'll just need to drive out to Cali to pick them up at an estate sale on Monday. Seems like a good deal for a 6 hour drive (each way). At this point it just seems too good to be true. Does anyone have any experience doing AUD recordings with these? I do mostly small clubs sometimes arenas. These may really be overkill. Other than a few studio recordings (which sound nice) I can't seem to find any samples from these mics. Anyone's .02 would help. The deal is good enough that I am thinking of getting them just to play around with and then sell after a while. I think I could easily get my money back. If I decide this is not what I am looking for I would be happy to pass the info along. You would just need to be able to pick them up in the LA/Hollywood area on Monday with cash or money order. The estate sale will hold them but if you don't show there is a charge. What you are saying is common knowledge. Unless you give, (trade, upload, etc.) 1 copy of a show you recorded, transferred etc. to someone with an agreement not to share the show, expect to see it BT'ed, FTP'ed, and have abortion editing done on it. I gave a copy of a show I transferred to a guy with an FTP sever a few years ago with an agreement not to spread it, because I was working with someone else to find a reported better lineage of the show, and I didn't want the probable crappier version of the show out there, when I expected to put a better version out there in 2 months. The next thing I know there is a "Bertha" version of the inferior master I transferred, I know because of the lineage, and it was labeled "NEW", and the "Bertha" guy gave credit to everyone in town, including the guy who nicknamed "Bertha", but me, and he pretended he didn't know it was a show I transferred from DAT, even though the .txt file with the show had my name in it, and what I had done It's been like that for atleast the 6 or so years I have been involved with digital music. I have shows I worked on that I choose not to share, I don't owe anyone shit, and if I don't want to share it, I don't have to. There are other shows in circulation I "worked on" because I want them to be, and I know BT has gotten some of them to over 500 people in a weekend. and there are shows I have transferred or kept to myself because I don't want the artists work jacked up by people with shit equipment and lack the knowledge of how to even duplicate a show in .shn format, without introducing errors. If you don't want it messed with don't put it out for the masses. If you have it, and it's special to you, and you feel proud, yet you don't want the public spreading it, and adulterating it, I understand, I have a few shows I feel that way about, and I don't share them. And I don't tell people I have them. There are so many shows around that people are not going to be raving mad because someone doesn't want to share a tape of Springsteen in Boston 25 years ago. (I have no Springsteen). Please let me know as I'm trying to track down a copy for the LL archives - the Sbd tape made for us by the house came out blank :-( Surely somebody jumped on the opportunity to stealth a Robert Plant show? Please let me know - tons of stuff to offer in trade. ------------------------------ From: JPollQs@aol.com Subject: ToTrade: 7-2-03 NeilYoung SOUNDBOARD Date: Sat, 20 Nov 2004 13:54:56 EST I'd enjoy trading this excellent quality Neil Young soundboard from the=20 electric Greendale Tour. This is reported to be the actual 7/2/03 soundboard= master=20 and I believe it is. I've compared the two, and this is not the "thin high=20 endy" audio from the projection screen video feed, which is also beginning t= o=20 circulate. Looking to trade for other high quality soundboard=20 recordings of Neil, Miles Davis, Fillmore East & West shows (all bands) and=20= music=20 of that era in general. Also trying to locate a good copy of the WPLJ broadc= ast=20 of Incredible String Band at A&R Studios on May 18, 1971. I'll also take a=20 B&P from each list to help get this moving around. Taping and post production is a voluntary amateur hobby. It could be compared to a cook-off where everyone brings their best chili or apple pie to be tasted, shared, and appreciated among other enthusiasts. If someone doesn't consider it a privilege to have their work "tasted" by others, they don't hafta participate. If the poster below is uptight about sharing, he shouldn't share. It is ludicrous to put the work out there and then complain about subsequent sharing. This would be like bringing your chili to a potluck and then expecting to stand at the table and decide who gets a bowl and who doesn't. My recommendation would be for him to work only as a pro, where "right to their work" is generally protected by the nature of the game. This makes more sense than trying to impose professional standards on an amateur hobby. - Bob (a former audio pro who has spent thousands of hours and dollars to share the music without any expectations in return) ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` "People need celebration in their life.
