Hi All,
I recently sent my Sony D-8 into Sony in California to have the heads
replaced and the Mic connector changed out. A few days ago, I received the
unit back with a note attatched saying that the parts were no longer
available.
Does anybody know if Sony is still manufacturing parts for these machines?
Are there any repair facilities that charge a flat fee to repair them?
What is a good portable machine to have now days for good recordings?
Thanks

Off topic, kinda sorta,
I'm looking into getting an iBook and I was wondering
if anyone was satisfied/dissatisfied, and how they
feel about it. I'll be using it for school work and
hopefully audio editing of the shows I tape.
Eventually when I financially can, I'd like to get
into taping on it too. Let me know how you like it for
everyday computer work as well and anything else I
should know before I buy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! E-mail me or
post.
Thanks, peace and blessings,
Christian.

I made a big mistak in not taping their Boston show this week. Looking
for any recent shows / boards, FMs from this French act. Thanks.

Long time lurker here -
My home deck (Sony 690) recently failed, and at first
glance the DDS Backup drive looked like a viable
alternative to either fixing my deck or trying to
find a cost-effective replacement, as I have little
need for DAT's anymore, but still need a playback
source for what I already have or may obtain in the
future.
I've emailed the guy from the DAT2WAV site, trying to
ensure that if I go this route, the software will be
available, but so far have gotten no response. Does
anyone know if the software is still available, or if
there are any other alternatives? Or, to put it
another way, does anybody out there HAVE the fully
functioning version of the program?
Help, please! RSVP either personally or on-list -
I'll be reading!
Scott
