head right over to eBay and snatch up a $168 creative labs Nomad JB3
.... 20 or 40gb models.
get a hosa s/pdif format converter (to feed it a bit perfect toslink
signal, as that is its digital input) You'll also need to
find an extra battery for it (they take two at once...for about 5-6
hours of record time).

Jonathan replies:
Could you point to a photo of this rig? What specific kind of "hosa s/pdif
format converter" do you use? I, too, am making this transition--D100
starting to crap out, and what's the use of taking it into 2005? Extra
battery for you is what?
Probably many on the list are/have/will/should/eventually will break down
and.... make this jump.
Thanks for the info,
Jonathan

Hello,
Maybe someone here has _the_ tip for a (very) small,
portable ADC to be used with a PCDAudio card?
Just (very) good CD-quality is OK, better is optional.
No XLR's required, no phantom power needed, maybe just
some `plug in power` (but a few volts more than the
normal voltage).
A ready to use or slightly 'hackable' off-the-shelf
solution would be best but also ongoing DIY projects
are very interesting (I am no EE and have no SMD
skills).
Any ideas?
Kind regards,
Udo

Subject: Archiving DAT tapes to Audio DVD?

Hi Everyone:
I've seen a lot of issues addressing the demise of the
Sony TCD D8 DAT deck.
The next logical question might be, what is the best
way to archive and back up your DAT masters?
I know many people have transfeered the shows to CDR,
but some people would prefer to have the show all on
one disc without hearing fade in's and outs. I know a
DAT can be backed up on a DVD as a long wave file, but
these files can only be burned as a Data DVD.
I was wondering if anyone has come up with a system or
method of taking a concert recording from a master DAT
tape or MD and authoring an audio DVD with track marks
at the start of each song.
Grant

Hi, all. I burn DVD-Rs on a Panasonic DVD Recorder (non-PC based)
Is there a program which will enable that data to be extracted and edited as
DV or .mov or .avi files? Thanks!
