Hello Datheads,
I'm interested in trading with the tapers of
Jeff Beck. This last year I went to London and recorded
all 8 UK shows.Have many, many Jeff Beck shows to trade.
I'm also interested in other Fusion shows especially
Marcus Miller,Cab,Niacin.Baked Potato shows and 70's Fusion.
Do you have a list?

With the recent nightclub shooting in mind, I fear that we will see a sudden
explosion of door searches and metal detectors at even the smallest of
clubs. Tapers have already been boycotting one certain club in the DC area
that installed a walkthrough metal detector in late 2003, but what do we do
when these things become the norm? Sure, I can get a deck past one of these
things.....but the huge amount of extra trouble to do so tends to severely
limit one's enjoyment of the show. Any reports from JB3 users on how easily
these things will go past a walkthrough metal detector? Are there any other
recording devices that use an absolute minimum of ferrous metal? I figure
that we should start preparing now and be one step ahead....any suggestions?
Yours Truly,

Subject: Help request: upcoming Chicago WXRT FM Patty Griffin broadcast

I'm hoping that there might be a listmember in Chicago that can help me by
digitally recording an upcoming WXRT FM broadcast. My wife and I and several
friends of ours are huge fans of Patty Griffin and I'd very much like to give
copies of an upcoming broadcast as stocking stuffers this Christmas (or shortly
thereafter). The broadcast is on December 19th as part of the WXRT Sunday
Night concert series. The show was recorded last Spring at The Vic. WXRT will be
airing a 1 hour edited version at 8pm on 12/19. Since it will be an hour
only, it will easily fit on 1 CDR and I'm not concerned about track indexing, so
it should be relatively easy. Is there anyone here who can help on this?
I'll do my best to make it worth your while and have access to a lot of older
Patty Griffin recordings I could trade for it, if that appeals to anyone.
Any help greatly appreciated! Happy Holidays, Stu Hanson

hi brian,
thanks for your response. well, a friend of mine tried
to talk to the band before during soundcheck about the
possibility of a soundboard patch, but was turned down
by the band's german (or european?) tour management
who said, that soundboard patches would not be
possible. they didn't even let him talk to the band
personally ! so if you ask me, they should change
their european tour promotor as soon as possible ;-)
just my two cents.
cheers

Misdirection. What can you record on, that looks like (because it is)
something that a significant fraction of people carry?

On that same note, I'm hoping someone out there can record
Chris Thile's appearance for me on December 15th. I have tons
of Nickel Creek and various Thile performances to offer in
trade and plan to record his December 16th show at Largo
in L.A.
Worldcafe.org doesn't seem to be there at the moment, it comes
up as a hosting site.
