From: Brad Ornes <bradd1@iaxs.net> Subject: Panasonic SV-3700 Tech Help Date: Tue, 14 Dec 2004 00:10:49 -0600 Anyone have any issues with a 3700 who mistracks and runs the heads a bit to fast? I can drag them down slightly by hand and watch the error count and plays fine but letting it run without the drag the error rate climbs slowly then drops again. Seems like the servo loop is a bit fast but what is it refrenced to? I have a crummy service manual in PDF but its so blurry I cant read it much less print. Help? Brad

PDAudio, using Gidluck Mastering's Live2496 software can now record continuously at 24/96 with no time limits. It lets you record until a flash card (or hard drive) is full, remove it while recording to alternate temporary storage, and then switch to a new card. This is done without losing a single byte. http://www.core-sound.com/comparison-pdaudio-pmd-670-fr-2.html

Artists include Bob Dylan, = Bobby & The Midnites, Bruce Hornsby, Fairport Convention, Frank Zappa, = Garcia/Crosby, Genesis, Go Ahead, The Grateful Dead, Herbie Hancock, Jerry = Garcia Band, Jethro Tull, Kingfish, Led Zeppelin, Max Creek, Peter Gabriel,= Phil Lesh, Pigpen, Ratdog, Robert Hunter, Spiritualized, Sting, Tom Waits,= Yes & Zero. Majority is GD. I'd like $1500 for the lot, over 750 DATs. = All with printed J-Cards with all setlists and recording info. I'll throw = in any blanks I may have lying around as well, probably a few boxes worth. Mark

A large transient bass note requires more oomph, i.e., has to move those big cones further. So a power system that could provide more power to a system would have a better bass response. I was just at a audio mastering lab in Studio City, CA and they were so worried about their power that they had a separate power feed to the building, had special power supplies built, and is using a UPS designed for the military just to keep their power clean and consistent so bass would be accurately represented on their $50K+ speakers (all five of them). Yes, power is critical to sound, especially low frequency. (Anybody want to bet on a blind test?) Actually I buy it. When mastering (Classical music) I routinely filter below 60Hz (Unless there is something important going on down there). The reason? So the system of the end user is not unduly taxed. It is a waste of energy for the amp to reproduce (meaningless) energy in that spectrum, when it could be used somewhere else. I'm not really sure how that translates to heavily compressed, hyper-bass music. But it would seem in this instance that more is better. -M
