It's a long known fact that reproduction of clear, accurate bass
requires a lot more power, than most of the music. The logic behind it
is very simple, or at least it seems so to me. To reproduce bass
accurately, and to experience all the aspects of it, requires large
woofers, at least I believe it does. Smaller subwoofers may be able t
reproduce the frequency, But reproducing the sound is only part of the
experience. There the hollow punch in the gut, or kick in the chest.
In order to reproduce that a speaker with a big cone has to move
substantially, requiring vast amounts of peak power above nominal
playing volume. My home power amp is a Carver M1.5t, with 350 watts a
channel, precisely for that reason. I really am not in the position to
bring in a separate power supply for my stereo, but it makes perfect
sense to me. When it comes to battery operated equipment, the ability
to dump a lot of power quickly isn't there, so any help is a plus.

They exist and have been seen in the wild. I received my 744t a week or so
back at this point. Still have to get some cables made for various patch
situations. So much more testing is needed before I can do a complete review.
Currently, I have only done a little work with it so far. Did some sample
recordings with my MBHO's directly connected, and then doing a transfer to a
Macintosh system for playback in professional sound studio.
It was very nice, sounded crisp in clean.
It was easy to use for recording, fairly simple menu setup, and lots of
flexiblity. Course you will never get it past a metal detector, its a pretty
solid piece of metal. And its very expensive.

Rob Angelucci, f you're out there, please contact me to finish our trade from earlier this year. I do believe you still owe me a show (8/9/95). I have lost your email address.
