I have had good (decent) results recording BBC6 broadcasts from my G3 outputs to my Audiomedia III card's inputs. all it takes is a cable and a soundcard and some simple recording software. but it's not a pure digital signal path, and it's certainly not the same as getting the original files off the server, but short of hacking in, I don't see what else you can do? good luck and keep us posted as to your solution. -tas ps- i thought you were gonna ask about embedded MP3 files, and I was going to suggest opening the page, viewing the source of the page, searching through the source for the text "mp3" and concatenating the URL together from the host of the site- for instance a site called http://www.foo.com/MP3page/bar.html referring to a file called "/audio/blap.mp3"becomes http://www.foo.com/MP3page/audio/blap.mp3 - you can then type in your command line terminal (app called TERMINAL on the mac) "curl -O http://www.foo.com/MP3page/audio/blap.mp3" and it will download to your main user directory. Note that "curl -O "is spelled all lower case except the letter "O" and that case and spaces are important. If so, how is it? grtz Onno ------------------------------ From: "terrapin" Subject: power help Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2005 12:42:29 -0500 I'm off on a trip and would like to cut back any excess gear if possible. I'll be taping a number of shows using various equipment, among them an SBM and a sharp md702 (no - the sbm will not be feeding the md!). I know there are a lot of knowledgable folks on power usage on this list and wonder if anyone can answer this one. The md requires 5v at 800ma and the sbm requires 6v at 800ma. As I'd like to only take one wall wort, would I fry the md by using the 6v charger, or would the sbm be damaged by using the 5v charger? many thanks ------------------------------ From: rappard@dds.nl Subject: Looking for Built To Spill 11/04/04 Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2005 18:55:14 +0100 (CET) W.O.W. If this is how you feel, don't spend any money tomorrow on his inauguration day - don't buy gas, food, DAT tapes, etc. And to make this a non-partisan message, if you do support Bush, spend as much money as possible! I recommend you buy a plasma TV and a Hummer ;-) --Gary BWT in following message.... ------------------------------ From: "Gary Davis" Subject: Cheap Japan DVDs at Best Buy, Office Depot Reply-to: g@hoxnet.com Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2005 10:27:01 -0800 Best Buy is selling the Fuji/TY DVD blanks (8x speed) for $20/50 this week (that's 40 cents/disc) and Office Depot is selling Maxell (made in Japan) discs for $5/15 (33 cents/disc!) I remember when Maxell DVDs cost $8 each! Note that both of these companies sell both Taiwan and Japan discs in similar packaging. Look for the words "Made in Japan" on the plastic label if this is important to you. The Fuji discs also say "Made in Japan" on the label of each disc. The Best Buy deal has been offered before. The Office Depot deal is also offered every few weeks but on different size packs (sometimes 25 or 50 packs). Not all of the sizes are made in Japan, so be sure to inspect before you buy. --Gary ------------------------------ From: "George Rue" Subject: Anybody Taping B.B. Works fine, I just tape on jb3 now so I have no use for this cable. $45 OBO shipped in north america maybe an extra dollar or 2 international. Paypal only. If you really want a photo of it I'd be happy to take one. thanks Andrew ------------------------------ From: Nick Graham Subject: Oade m248 Internal Battery ? Date: Wed, 19 Jan 2005 20:22:45 -0600 Anybody know roughly how long the m248 battery will last? I did a quick search and didn't find anything. I've heard anywhere from 3 hours to upwards of 7. If anybody knows for sure...good karma headed your way for helping. Nick ------------------------------ From: ASAMEL@aol.com Subject: Digital Recorder With Timer?
