I know that is a pet peeve of some of the SBD ops and have actually seen one person have to take down their rig cause they set up in front of the board. Stay Kind, Dana ------------------------------ From: "Stephen Pzynski" Subject: DAT liquidation Date: Sat, 29 Jan 2005 12:14:00 -0600 Hey all.... I've got 6 boxes of pre-recorded DAT's I'm looking to unload (10 tapes per box) for cost. The music is mostly Phish (some rare stuff), but also includes SCI, Garaj Mahal, Santana and many others from the mid-90's until now. I'll gladly pay for shipping on these and would love to get $25 box (again, including the shipping). These can be transferred, taped over, added to your collection... whatever you prefer. I can sell one box at a time, or all 6 together. Please lmk if you're interested or would like specifics on the shows contained within. If you ask early, I can probably mix and match. Thanks... Steve ------------------------------ From: "Stephen Pzynski" Subject: FS: HHb CDR-830 Date: Sat, 29 Jan 2005 13:34:07 -0600 Hey all... I'm selling my standalone burner as it doesn't really get any use. I got it brand new directly from HHb last summer and have only used it about 10 times since. It's in great shape and kept in a smoke-free house. This can be added to a rack unit for studio work or hooked up directly to your stereo and connected to a DAT player for on-the-fly transfers. It comes with remote, AC cord, instruction book and removable rack-unit adapters. Retail is around $549; I'll ship it to you for $350. Feel free to ask any questions. I can send pictures if desired. Thanks. I recently upgraded and am looking to sell my AKGs. These mics are excellent in terms of convenience (a breeze to install/switch the various capsules), size (19mm diameter, flying the caps with the active cables put them at 2 inches), and performance (a taper favorite!). AND, since they're so tiny, they are ideal for stealthing. If you've never seen or heard about the AKG 391/3 Bluelines, visit: http://www.akg.com/products/powerslave,mynodeid,186,id,230,pid,230,_language,EN.html A recording I made of Soulive can be found on the Internet Archive. It is the #2 most downloaded Soulive show on that site. Link: http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15849 All of this equipment has been babied and is in excellent shape. I will be selling the system in one of two ways. Option A: Active system Includes: 2 AKG c391b cardioid capsule/body condenser microphone systems 2 AKG MK 90/3 + H 98 "Active" cables and mounts 2 5/8 to 3/8 adapters (for mounts) $980 Option B: Standard system Includes: 2 AKG c391b cardioid capsule/body condenser microphone systems 2 15-foot Canare XLR cables w/ Neutrik connectors from Oade 2 Audio Technica AT8410a shock mounts $760 Also for sale: 2 AKG ck93 hypercardioid capsules - $260 2 AKG B18 phantom power battery modules - $165 Pictures can be found at: http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=34960.0 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I forget some venues are rowdier than others. With the exception of a honky-tonk gig I did for a friend, all my live recordings have been at classical recitals. The reception afterwards can be brutal - especially when there is cheap box wine and divorcees. But no mosh pit for me. But this does make me wonder, why would anyone take $3K Schoeps microphones into such an environment? Surely, given the conditions and risk, a pair of Audio Technica ATM33a's would do a fine job with a much lower exposure to loss. > Hey, that sounds great in theory! Too bad that position in the venue > (especially the small ones) is determined more by where you're allowed to > set up, and where your stand won't get kicked, bumped, or knocked over at a > crowded, rowdy show, rather than where the acoustics and geometry are > optimal..... ------------------------------ From: "Robert O'Haire" Subject: 744T Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2005 01:45:41 -0500 Greetings Datheads...I am happy to report I am the proud owner of the Sound Devices 744T recorder. I just got it this week and taped 2 events with it. I can say only good things about it. Having said that I now have the dilemma of what to do with the files on the drive in respect to mixing and archiving. I have burned the files to cd using toast but this won't allow me to make any adjustments as far as track location or EQing. I see that Protools and Logic are commonly used for this..(I use a mac G4/OSX). The 744 records wav and bmf files which can be dropped via firewire right into an editing program...will one of these programs allow me to EQ and tweak the mix without the need of an interface or soundcard? Is there a best low cost option? Also...when doing a 4 track recording what is the standard way of archiving the files for future mixdown? I was thinking of storing them as data on a DVD. Thanks in advance for the help. Robert ------------------------------ From: "Gunther Wandtke" Subject: Re: Clock speed of Sony M1 observation / question Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2005 23:21:38 +1100 Some off-list correspondence has helped me to detect my error and to re-establish trust into my DAT equipment : I had my M1 set to display the so-called R-time, which for whatever reason does not reflect the actual recording time. (To my own confusion, this R-time ran slower then the actual time on re-test !) Pressing the counter button a couple of times brings up A-time, which is supposed to be an accurate reflection of the recording time, and to my great relief also works accurately on my M1. Sorry if I caused any confusion and unnecessary alarm and thank you for all input I received. Gunter ------------------------------ From: analog414@comcast.net Subject: Ricks Master Recordings/Sony Beta Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2005 16:51:54 +0000 Hey Live Music Fanatics: I want to first thank all that responded to my plea for a working Beta player to help drop down my PCM recordings. I very much appreciated the replies. The death of my Beta player was the best thing to happen. I ended up finding the original SL-2000 Beta Sony portable brand NEW on Ebay. In the box sealed for the last 18 years. I also found a killer working Sony PCM-F1 processor. What a difference in sound from the previous home units. I have not heard these recordings sound this good in 18 years. This is a update for the few of you wondering what I completed. A few classics for sure. Bruce Springsteen Kemper and Soldiers Field, Supertramp 1985 Horizon...this show is amazing, Judas Priest, Robin Trower, Frank Zappa 1984 a classic, Moody Blues The Present tour, Jean Luc Ponty a EXC+ recording and a few more. They are all marked on my site.
