2800 Gauss flux field (more than enough to erase DAT and VHS metal tapes)
Thermal breaker to prevent overheating
Hand held
Push button on/off power switch
UL & CSA approved for safety.
old notes from dat-heads digest re: stripper/converter:
Technolab (Digicon D2) SCMS Destroyer

o Self synchronization from 32 to 48 KHz
o Conversion from Coax to Optical & V.V.

NOTE: has had modification that allows for using AC power in addition
to 9V battery,

Well the obvious answer, to me anyway, is to get the best tape possible! I
do see your point that something bad could happen, but still, if ya gots the
gear, use it!
Myself, I have a pair of KM140's. I used to have a pair of sonics that I
sometimes used, more out of laziness than fear of the 140's getting damaged.
Anyway now the sonics are history, so pretty much anywhere I tape, I'm using
the 140's. Whether it's a smoky bar or an outdoor festival, I guess I'll
take my chances.
Nothing like living on the edge! ;-)

Schoeps VMS 52UB Mic Preamp
Serial #1309
I am the second owner of this beautiful little device.
It is used, but in near mint condition with only a
very few tiny cosmetic blemishes. It functions
flawlessly and was just recently returned to Schoeps
for brand new capacitors and a clean bill of health.
It will do both stereo and mid-side. It is extremely
portable and stealthable weighing only about 1.5lbs
and taking up the space of an M1. I used it in my
Schoeps mk4/21h>kc5>vms52ub>ad2k+>m1 rig. I mounted
the VMS and M1 side-by-side on top of the ad2k+ making
the whole rig the size of a box of tissues. The sound
is what you expect from Schoeps. I can supply photos
or sample recordings to anybody interested.
Specifications
- Runs on AA batteries or 9-16VDC external (not
included)
- Power meter and low battery light.
- Dimensions (WxHxL) = 3.75"x1.5"x5.5" about the size
of an M1, extremely stealthable
- Selectable 20,30,40dB gain
- L(M)/R(S) XLR input
- 4xBNC-Coax input/output: L/R stereo, M+S=L and M+S=R
out
I thought I'd entertain offers here before going the
ebay route. I'll ship worldwide; buyer pays insured
shipping. Serious offers and inquiries only please.
Thanks,
Kurt
