If anyone can hook me up with these guys I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, ~Cliff Kaelin -- "ain't no crystal gazing..." http://deadphiles.org/%7Ecliff/raqmusic.htm ------------------------------ From: "Kenneth Dudzik" Subject: Motorhead Chicago warning House of Blues Chicago Taping Reply-To: Date: Wed, 9 Mar 2005 11:27:34 -0600 Hi, I have taped several shows there and have been wanded, patted down, emptied pockets. I'll admit it is tough but possible. Here are some of the tricks I have been successful with. - Wear baggy clothes, multiple layers. - Crotch everything. DAT, Bass reducer, mics, tapes. It's painful but it only lasts a few minutes. Sometimes I may have the mics under my shirt already. - They are generally looking for weapons not tape recorders. - have plenty of keys and change to empty from your pockets. - watch who the people are who are wanding or patting down people ahead of you in line. I usually try to walk up to the women who are checking, they will most likely not search you as much as a guy might. - Remember, most "normal" people, who are doing the checking don't know tapers exist and are looking for weapons and are generally in a hurry to get people through the door. - While they are wanding you, ask them where the bathroom is. - Relax and don't act suspicious. I have found the best place to tape there is on the 1st balcony right in front. There is a ledge for you to take a layer off, set your equipment down, clip your mics to your hat and let the tapes roll. From there you are above the crowd and do not get hardly any crowd noise and placing your hat down on the ledge keeps the mics below anyone's mouth standing around you on the balcony. I can easily see plenty of videos shot from there although I don't have a camera. If anyone has any specific questions feel free to ask. I think it is one of the best places to tape from. Drew ------------------------------ From: "Bill J" Subject: Kindtaper (Wes) Date: Wed, 09 Mar 2005 13:19:48 -0800 Wes, For some reason, all messages that I'm sending to you are bouncing back. I listened to the 1 hour show. I dug it. I didn't watch the home gig. When you say dvd, do you mean that you filmed them yourself and made a dvd, or do you mean you made a dvd of the shows I sent you? I'd be up to maybe check out some more of their music. I'll let you know once the DATs arrive. Bill ------------------------------ From: "Dennis Rooks" Subject: FS: Alpine 5700 Car DAT deck (rare) ! I was lucky enough to see Chris many times over the past 10 years. His live concert energy rivaled that of many rock bands that I have seen. He will be missed. Thanks for the space, here is what I have to offer. I have not seen any other Chris shows, though if anyone has any I would be very interested in them. 1-22-98 Grizzly Rose, Denver, CO CSB>D8 5ft in front of Right PA 7-28-99 Cheyenne Frontier Days, Cheyenne, WY MG SMS2000>Sonosax SX-M2>D8 10ft in front of right PA Both of these shows are very listenable, not spectacular but capture the essence of Chris' live shows very well. Any Chris fan would enjoy them. Thanks again for the space and e-mail me if you are interested and for more information. Here is what I am selling: Toshiba Portege 3480 CT, Pentium III, 500 MhZ, 192 MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive (divided into 3 partitions, one for each boot (NTFS) and a third for storage (FAT32)), 2 - PCMCIA Slots I have the system set-up as dual boot, both are running XP Pro. I have one set-up for normal day to day use and is updated with Service Pack 2. Also includes Office XP Pro with Frontpage, EZ CD Creator 5 Basic. Also includes Partition Magic 7.0 and Winzip. The second boot is running XP Pro as well and has been optimized for recording, meaning everything is disabled except for what is absolutely necessary to record with. This allows the system to boot much faster and doesn't have all of the processes associated with XP running in the background. The system is very stable and I have recorded 10 tracks flawlessly with it many times. Included in this boot are Apogee Mini Drivers already installed, VX Pocket drivers already installed, mkw ACT, FLAC 1.7.1, Winamp and Wavelab 4.0d. The laptop is ready to record. Accessories included are port replicator (has USB, headphone jack, Ethernet port, monitor port & AC, PS2 port & serial port), AC Adapter, extra motherboard and a battery sled that attaches to the bottom on the laptop. With this battery set-up I have been able to record for 3.5 - 5 hours with no problem. There are 3 issues with the laptop; 1 - the battery led does not work, 2- headphone jack does not work, 3 - the USB port does not work. For the last two issues both of these are resolved by using the port replicator. Also with the extra motherboard you can probably strip the parts necessary to fix it, I just haven't had time. This is a great system and is ready to go for recording. I really don't want to part with it, but I can't justify owning it anymore with my new PDA set-up. Price - $400 I also have a second battery sled available. Fits the Toshiba Portege 3400 series. Price - $100 Also selling my VX Pocket (which laptop above is ready to roll with). Included with the card is the dongle cable and also two custom digital input cables that I made. These make it very easy for recording and not have to use the dongle that comes with the card. Price - $225 I would love to sell all of the above as a package. It's a great set-up that is ready to roll for someone wanting to start recording via laptop or for someone to upgrade. E-mail privately if interested or if you have any further questions. John ------------------------------ From: udo Subject: new gear? Date: Wed, 9 Mar 2005 23:46:19 -0800 (PST) Hello, Are there any usable newer devices on the market that could replace my (t)rusty portable Sony DAT deck? I.e.: - Similar in size to a Sony M100 - 3+ hours of battery media life - Uncompressed CD-quality audio - No tape I am aware of the PDAudio solution but without a simple small ADC I cannot really use it. Also there's lots of (semi) pro gear that works great but is either too big (don't need XLR's nor phantom) or also expensive. Any ideas?
