Acoustically speaking, try moving away from the sound source to where it's not so loud. The AGC and mic limiter settings are probably after the input stage, so they will probably not help. They will remove the "life" from your tapes though! Limiters like that are really for speech only, unless you like all audio to be "fixed" using compression/expansion so that it's a constant volume level. (quite an unmusical thing to do, I think) Anyhow, it sounds like the bass rolloffs work, why not just use simple attenuators and knock the entire signal down if you don't like the lack of bass from the rolloff filters? -tom On Mar 20, 2005, at 10:50 AM, Digestifier wrote: > > From: "Mark J. Rob Namaste Y'all! this is a great topic. The only time i was busted was after a Beth Orton show. It was my own fault. Went up to grab a set-list and a guard saw my suspicious hat [lights were up, i *thought* the coast was clear]. In no time flat Chicago's finest were on the scene, the tour manager was there, and i was trying not to break a sweat. Miraculously i was able to unload the M-1 and drop the DAT down my pants and it landed in the top of my boot, all while encircled by two cops, three guards, and two tour personnel. NO B.S.! I gave up a dummy [been doing this forever: taking a tape that's 3/4 way played through, labeled w/ the band and date and venue] to the tour manager. I walked away scot-free [though w/ a cut mic-cable when the goon tore my hat off as i tried to "walk away"] except for a little shaky nerves. My suggestion is to carry something small [mini-disc recorder] w/ dummy blank loaded, or actually taking signal and hand THAT over as the "master". Most of these folk will have never seen the newer lines of HD [though it is just a matter of time] and may just fall for the disc. I know it's one more cable and one more piece of gear to crotch in... take care and happy taping richard BWT: Three **dat only** BnP's Beth Orton 08.06.02 @ The Vic Theatre, Chicago IL MG300 [ortf] > V2 > M1 @ 48khz fob 60m Complete w/ "Hey!
