From: Bruce Burnett <dubcentralstation@yahoo.com> Subject: Flashing DAT's to a hard-drive using an internal DDS drive Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2005 09:15:38 -0800 (PST) It seems the last Internet postings on this subject end around the summer of 2003. Is anybody on this list doing this sucessfully? It looks like you just need a DDS drive, and flash the firmware with the correct update, and it should work. If anybody has any info, links, tips or tricks on how to make this work correctly that would be great :) Peace, BB __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! From: DannyThweatt@webtv.net (Danny Thweatt) Subject: Mid-Price Stealth Mics? Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2005 11:40:05 -0600 I have been recording with CSB's for quite some time and have been generally satisfied with the results, but have a complaint or two when it comes to recording VERY LOUD shows. I'm talking the real ear splitters. Can you guys recommend a mid-price set of (400-600$) mics that would be good in a stealth set-up (preferably mics that need no pre-amp, something with a small battery box that can just go mic-in to an M-1). I want mics that can handle tons of volume without distortion, but retain a "bright" sound. The CSB's have actually performed very well for me, but at times when I listen to one of my recordings of a very loud show I hear an occasional "rattle" like something metal in the guts of the mics is rattling. I have heard Schoeps/Nuemann recordings that have the same thing, so maybe it's just the nature of he beast when recording loud shows. The shows I'm really impressed with are ones recorded with MBHO's. How are those for stealthability? Please contact me off list if you'd like. From: "Tim Settle" <tpsettle1@hotmail.com> Subject: ISO: Any Calobo Shows Date: Sun, 27 Mar 2005 04:28:44 +0000 Hello fellow tapers, I am looking for any Calobo shows that might be out there that I have not found yet. I have many masters and clones of the band, but I am always looking for more. I know they played the West Coast a lot and bet there are some CA tapers out there that might have seen them. They also played the High Sierra Music Fest. a few times, any of those sets would be great as well. If you are interested in a trade or have something to offer, please contact me off the list or send your list to me. Thanks for the space, Sincerely, Tim Settle tpsettle1@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! From: "Gary Davis" <g@hoxnet.com> Subject: If you're busted.... Reply-to: g@hoxnet.com Date: Sun, 27 Mar 2005 00:42:36 -0800 If you're busted after you've recorded a good show, whether on HD or removable media, unless you live in a state where recording is actually illegal (eg New York), you can probably refused to turn over the tape and just agree to leave the venue. As long as you have nerves of steel, If the manager of the band/security is not cooperative, insist that they call the police. The police will let you go as soon as they figure out that you're not breaking an actual law, and the venue might be accused of false imprisonment. If at all possible, keep the tape rolling through this conflict! The only possible problem, is that the venue might demand your name and then ban you from future performances. I've never heard of this but it seems something they might reasonably do, and of course, there is some risk that the police will simply not cooperate with your side for whatever reason. --Gary
