I've beaten them the only 2 times I was faced with them. The first time it beeped, but after doing the pat down they couldn't
figure out where it was coming from, so was passed thru. The 2nd time nothing happened and I passed thru.
It's all probably based on how paranoid the artist is.

I got the OK to circulate the New Bohemians matrix I made 2 weeks ago in
Dallas. Is there anyone who has a server that can host the show for people
here to access?? It's a 65 min set which was mixed down to 16bit/44.1k from
my 24bit/48k multitracks. I don't have time for trades or B+Ps...sorry....cm

I have 2 (Never Used) batteries for sale. I bought these for my Mini-Me, but
have never used them since I always have power. There are two 12v 7.5Ah
batteries with a charger. I have a customized cable that fits the Mini-Me. I
bought the whole thing for $135. I'll sell it for $100. You pay shipping.

It's hard to believe the batteries that are required by the M-1(2 AA's) and
the battery box(9 volt) can't be detected by a metal detector wand. I guess
I should load up one nite and find out!
dave
I have been wanded before and havent been detected
before. I think some metal detectors are set to detect
certain iron content, like that of a gun, and the
battery box is aluminum. and an M1 is mainly
magnesium. When they are using metal detectors I think
they are mainly looking for weapons.
Has anyone had any other experiences with this?

using d7 or d8 as an example because i'm familiar with
them by size.
i dont really attend shows big enough to have
experienced the metal detector problems but i was
wondering if you took your headphones and say a
labelled tape or officially released tape couldn't you
just take the recorder in under the guise of bringing
in your tapeplayer rather than tape recorder.
i always carry a pre-recorded tape and headphones in
case i'm stopped entering a venue.
you can always get a friend to bring the mic in for
you.

Another good way to go past metal detectors/wands is if you have a metal
belt buckle and bring gear in by your crotch. I've never had anyone ask
me to take my belt off, and if they did I'd complain that I don't want
my pants falling down. Of course, since I mainly do smaller/DIY shows,
I don't really stealth too much. I think the last time I had to deal
with wands was Rush last summer at the amphitheater here in Columbus,
and that was easy to bring in gear because I was on crutches with a
broken foot at the time, so the dudes at the door were more accomodating
towards me.
Upcoming shows which I don't plan on stealthing include Melt Banana and
the Dirtbombs. Paul Westerberg's also coming here but I'll probably
have to stealth that since thats at a larger venue.
