If anyone can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it and I could even
spin you a few DVDs when I get my laptop back from service:
I collect vinyl, and I like to run the LPs to CD. I do this using a standalo
ne HHB burner. I run each side as one long track, so there are 2-4 tracks per
disc, each track being 1 whole side of an LP.
What I would like to know, is if there is a free or cheap, but mainly easy
to use software that will allow me to take the discs that I have already
burned, load them onto my computer, then cut off the lead-in before the album
starts or any other unwanted parts, and then allow me to place chapter marks
before the beginning of each song and create a new "final" disc.
If anyone knows what I am trying to do, and or does the same thing and is
familiar with how to accomplish this task, I would be ever so grateful to hear
your method.
Thanks,
Wes

Hi Guys. Just a heads up that guitar virtuoso/raving loon Buckethead is
opening up for Galactic for several shows this month. Both Buckethead and
Galactic are taper friendly, so fire up those rigs! I got St. Louis covered.
If you'll be taping BH let me know. If you are an STL taper please get in
touch with me off list.
Have a nice day, Danny

Hi all,
Is there anyone on here who lives in or very close around Indianapolis
(NE side, Lawrence area would be closest) and has a working DAT
deck I could borrow the usage of for a day or so?
I have a DAT (emphatically "not for trade") of a recent performance
by a touring artist, and the job fell to me to transfer this
DAT to CPU and then to audio CD format for the artist himself.
BUT, neither my deck (D8) nor a friend's identical one will
play the tape without periodically (about every 15 seconds) putting
in a wash of digital noise that renders the transfer useless.
My deck has been doing this with a few tapes recently, but I
thought the noise had come in during the recording phase and
not just playback - but this tape was cloned by someone else,
and I consider it a "known good" tape.
I need to get this transfer done by about Wednesday, and would
be happy to either borrow another deck, portable or otherwise,
or let someone else do the transfer, provided they have a suitable
non-resampling S/PDIF device. The tape is recorded at 48KHz,
so transferring directly to a standalone CD burner is pretty
much out - I'd much rather do the sample-rate conversion on the
CPU. (I use an M-Audio Delta DiO 2496 for straight transfers
and prefer CoolEdit or some similar s/w for sample rate conversions.)
I've also, by the way, eliminated every other possible source
for the noise (that is, I still hear it when listening through
either deck's own headphone outs while running off batteries,
so it's not some funky result of a bad S/PDIF cable or power
supply on the fritz, or the sound card or e-mag interference
from the computer or anything else; I just coincidentally have
two decks in dire need or service.
Email me ASAP if you can help out. I can offer some small payment
for the loan of a deck in the form of music, food, cash, beer
or karma. Thanks in advance.
