It's under $100 on our Web site. It comes with a breakout cable for
S/PDIF in and out, and for Midi in and out The speaker output is on the
card's back panel itself.

None of the Creative Lab sound cards that we've tested to date are bit
for bit accurate, and some that are advertised as being able to do 24/96
are in fact not able.

I've got a generic DVD+/-RW drive in a Win 2K SP4 machine with a gig of RAM
and a Celeron 2.4. The drive has performed flawlessly for a year.
I just bought 2 spindles of Philips DVD+Rs at $3.99 for 15 - a great deal.
Problem is, they seem to be sorta useless.
First thing I did was fire up Nero Enterprise 5.5.10.something to burn a 4.1
GB set of files as a DVD-Video. I had burnt this exact set of files
successfully to a DVD-R last week, and that disc was my last DVD blank until
I got these Philips'. They were TDK DVD-Rs.
The burn stopped at about 24% of the burn, but the burn did not fail. The
hard disk light stayed constantly lit, as did the LED that indicates burner
activity - no flickers, just constantly on. I let it go for two hours,
hoping that the burn process was still happening, and then had to hard-crash
to get out of it. The 'elapsed time' on Nero kept on counting, and Windoze
kept working fine, so it wasn't like the machine or program froze, either.
There was a noticeable reduction on disk access load and/or processor load
once the percentage burnt stopped rising - as if the drive lights were on,
but the drives were not really doing anything
Since then, I've made a bunch of coasters with Data and DVD-Video, and all
of these discs show the same exact amount of burnt surface area.
I did a test with 900 MB of data, and it worked just fine, dammit. Then I
did a test of 4.1 GB of data and it froze like all the others did, at about
23%. As I type, I'm trying a 1.5 GB set of data, as I have a theory that
Nero is going haywire at the 1.0 GB threshold, for whatever reason. (Note:
burn just stopped at 68%, meaning my 1 GB ceiling theory has merit)
Anybody ever seen anything like this? Are there decent inexpensive or free
options? I've paid for two copies of Nero (Vision Express and Regular) and
the tech suppport process from them is a huge pain. If there's another
solution, I'd love to know about it. I really don't want to just shrug and
say "must be those new blanks" until I eliminate other possible problems.
And, yes, I know I should try a DVD-R now, but I don't want to go buy more
blanks until I know +Rs are the culprit.
Thanks for reading -

can someone please give me an idea of how to perform a simple bass cut using
cool edit pro? i'm using version 2.1 if it matters. i'd basically like to
apply a high-pass filter, cutting somewhere around 70Hz, and removing
everything below. thanks in advance.
