2500 mAh even

A bunch of other options. This site also has better
chargers than the Sony charger:

This is a good concept, but how much of a taping job can you do on a
flash memory card? Especially at high sample rate/word length? The
largest flash memory card I've seen on the market is 512MB...that is
about a 1/2 hour or less. I think this is a great concept, but we are
going to have to wait a while to see it fully blossom.

Hi, everyone.
Inspired by recent postings here, I got a Sony SDT-9000 from eBay and
following the instructions here
http://kickme.to/sdt9000
managed to program it with the SGI 12.2 firmware.
My issue now is that I still can't read audio DATs on this drive.
I have a Seagate "Archive Python" that works fine with the same setup
for reading audio DATs, same SCSI card, same SCSI cable, same
software. I run RedHat Enterprise Linux 3 with a 2.4 kernel, using
read_dat from Andrew Taylor
http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~andrewt/read_dat/
I've tried disabling parity, tried switching two of the teeny dip
switches on the bottom #1 and #2 ON because the Sony manual seems to
indicate that's the right setting for SGI... nothing works.
I've tried
mt -f /dev/st0 setdensity 0x80
mt -f /dev/st0 setblk 0
mt -f /dev/st0 compression 0
and used
tapeinfo -f /dev/sg0
to verify that my changes are in fact changing the settings, but still
no luck, read_dat reports an I/O error... I can't even use dd or cat
to just grab raw frames from the drive.
I'm baffled. The drive initially came with firmware "T4P0" if that is
at all helpful.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has had similar problems or has some
ideas for things to try or even better, a solution... I would really
prefer to keep this drive in the Linux environment but if some folks
out there have had problems in Linux and then went to Windows and
everything worked great, well, that would be interesting information
as well.
Any help gratefully appreciated!

Greetings all,
Last time Ryan Adams cam to this neck of the woods (2003?) he was
totally cool with taping and I got my stand and mics in without any
problems. I am hearing reports now that he's not ok with taping, however I
haven't heard any concrete word from anyone. Does anyone know for sure? I
hope to tape his show here in Toronto on Tuesday and would really like to
run my SD722 with the schoeps on a stand. I know the venue will deny me
entrance (they always do!) but is there anyone in the band I can ask for,
like a tour manager or a soundman?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would be interested in this information also. Please reply to the list
or cc: me if replying to Bob. I have not yet loaded the 12.2 firmware on
mine. Some have said the preferred firmware is 13.1 IIRC. Anyone know a
source for that?

I did a froogle.google.com search and found that they now have compact
flash cards that can store up to 4 GB. Yet I still think this is small
for taping a whole show (at 24/96)...it would suck to have to do a "tape
flip" during the show. Oh yeah...and the 4 GB flash cards go for about
300 bucks (my 200 GB external HD was purchased for $167). :-(
Still think we're going to have to wait to see this technology come around.
