I had an identical situation to yours - a Sony BC-D100 (came with my M1) charger and Energizer 2500mAh batteries. The Sony charger couldn't charge them fully, even if I left them on a green light for several days. I think the Sony charger is only designed for Sony 1500-1800 mAh batteries. I use the Energizer charger that came bundled with my Energizer batteries, works great. ------------------------------ From: Philippe Legault Subject: Re: SDT-9000 and Linux Reply-To: Philippe Legault Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 10:59:42 -0400 I've had the exact same problem as you described. Runinng on a Gentoo box, the drive returns I/O errors with those settings (except I didn't use compression 0). I am also running the 12.2 firmware. I've had _no_ problems with it on Windows and DAT2WAV has pretty much done everything so far... so in my mind it is just a matter of how these dat_read and wdat read the tape in Linux... =20 I don't think you can run DAT2WAV through Wine either! =20 Maybe the 13.1 firmware is really needed in Linux. Rebooting back in Windows just to do a tape is really cumbersome. --=20 Regards, Phil ------------------------------ From: "William Schofield, III" Subject: ISO: Mudhoney 04/23 Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 11:12:43 -0400 Looking for any copies of Mudhoney's 04/23/05 gig from the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. Reply-To: jld8d@virginia.edu Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 11:17:48 -0400 I can't seem to open the homepage of the DAT2WAV software, is it still commercially available? If not, can someone send me a copy? I'd gladly purchase it if someone can send me in the right direction however.... thanks --josh ------------------------------ From: Quentin Tarantino Subject: Edirol R4 Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 08:29:07 -0700 (PDT) With the R1 being in high demand, I was wondering if anyone had any viewpoints/experience with the R4. With the exception of the price range, this seems like the one to snatch up. However, before I dish out the money I'd like to know a bit more about it from someone who's used it and tested it out. Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 08:56:40 -0700 (PDT) I have been using NiMH cells for 4+ years now. I love them. I used the Maha 1800 mah then 2000 mah and now the 2300 & 2500 mah Energizer cells. I use the Maha smart chargers and before major shows I do a complete condition and charge. I never do a show with cells that have not been either freshly charged or a condition and charge within 24 hours. The weak point of NiMH batteries is maintaining there charge. I use an M1 also and with the way I use them the meter is very accurate it will stay at 4 bars for about 2 to 2.5 hours then 3 bars. I did McCartney last tour a 3 hour 5 minute show and I walked out with 3 bars on my M1. I also use them in my ham radio gear, digital camera GPS and the older cells in my flashlights. With the charging method above I have NEVER had NiMH come close to failing and have complete confidence in them. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I know of one other person who was taping on the balcony, but didn't get to talk to them after the show. I taped on the floor, but brought the wrong mics so the recording turned out pretty bad. Please send me a message if you were there and taped. I am also looking for any other TMV tapers/traders. Please e mail me. Thanks, -Brian ------------------------------ From: bigjazzfan@cableone.net Subject: re: Sony MD Question Date: Sat, 30 Apr 2005 21:57:22 -0600 There have been many Minidisc home decks (full size) that had digital out. Usually optical but some had both coax and optical. So you could digitally dupe to CD or hard drive. Portables didn't offer digital out. Nor did Sony or anyone ever offer a dual home deck with MD and CD recording in either direction. I always wanted a deck that could easily dupe to CDR but Sony never made it. Another stupid Sony moment. Not even in Japan did they offer this. And they also never released boomboxes that you could record the radio on minidisc until just a few years back and then they were're really meant as portable boomboxes. Just one stupid mistake after another with Sony for years now. It's amazing any minidisc fans still exist. I'll still never forget losing important recordings with their first portable when it up and screwed up it's TOC and the disc was toast. That was pretty much my end with portable minidisc recording. Just can't trust it. I will say it's a fantastic format for splitting and deleting and putting in track marks. Always have wished CDR would have done this like minidisc without a computer. Maybe bluray will be the future in a small portable recorder to supercede minidisc. Of course flash memory is the best but bluray might do it for much less money with more hours and give us 24/192 sound. bjf ------------------------------ From: Mark Mayhle Subject: Re: DAT2WAV, where? If so, I'd love to trade. I have several Sloan masters. They are on a short west coast and Canada tour and cool with audio and video taping, so check them out if you like the idea of The Beatles and The Kinks crossed with AC/DC and T-Rex. Talk to any of the band members or Brendan, their soundguy for permission.
