Again, thanks for the information and encoraging people to tape them, but
don't assume one rule will always apply. As I mentioned before, I was
told when I called the club in DC that only handheld cassette recording
was allowed, they didn't mention anything about soundboard access.
Someone else I know just told me that they were turned away with their DAT
deck at the show, so at the show here definately no DAT recording was
allowed, board or audience, and this is a club that normally goes along
with whatever the band or their management tells them, and does allow me
to tape most shows I ask about.

Hi,
I'm willing to change my microphone (Soundman OKM II R
for the moment) and maybe someone could help me for my
new rig..? I hesitate to buy DPA's 4061 but do you
there are better mics for such price and such size?
By the way is there a real difference between DPA 4601
+ MPS 6030 and Core Sound's HEB (4061 + Core Sound
battery)?
I noticed that the DPA's 4061 has good drums and voice
in comparison to many many mics (that's what I like),
but it seems to lack the trebles a little bit (cymbals
notably...)...I can't be sure, I don't have many
"DPA-made" recordings, but that's it for the few ones
I have.
Cheers

I have only used one type of data tape in my decks since I owned them,
Sony DG90P data tapes. I spoke to several dat owners before I bought
some, and maybe it's just who I talked to, but all of them said they
used the same tapes, sony DG90P tapes. When I called a vendor who I had
dealt with several times prior for CD-R media, they told me the Sony DG
60 and 90P's are the most widely used DAT tapes. More Sony DGxxP tapes
are sold for DAT use, than all other tapes combined, was what I was
told. Sony probably reccomendsAudio DT tapes because they sell them,
as do other DAT manufacturers, of they sell Sony tapes with their brand
on them.
If there is some truth to the story that Data Tapes are rougher than
audio tapes, the money saved with Data Tapes will pay for many sets of
heads.

Anyone have a recommendation for dependable service for the old Aiwa/HHB "brick" DAT machines *other than Pro Digital*?
Thanks,
Curtis
