He IS taper friendly and will be playing Solo electric. He allows SBD and Audience recordings and his management only asks that you send them a copy on cdr of the show. The shows are typically around $10-$15 a ticket and usually run around 70-80 minutes. Please shoot me an email if you are able to tape and if you have any questions. One was due to bad sectors. It would mount but the directories were not readable. The second drive had the partition table over-written completely. I was able to recover both drives using a program called R-Studio (http://www.data-recovery-software.net/). It is not a free program but it is reasonably priced. They have a downloadable "demo" that will scan your hard drive for lost partitions and files. It will display the files found but only allow you to recover files 64KB or smaller. I did this and started jumping up and down when I saw my files and was able to recover a few small files. I then paid for "R-Studio NTFS" online and had my files back that afternoon. Mike ------------------------------ From: "Gregory Morgan" Subject: Sony PCM-2500 questions Date: Mon, 06 Jun 2005 13:16:52 -0700 I have recently been given an old (read ancient) Sony pcm-2500 (the two box machine). I have a problem with the analog inputs and outputs. This machine sounds REALLY tinny (no bass at all) when playing back. Using the digital out (SP/DIF) and an outboard D/A converter sounds fine. Also, it seams to be impossible to get a decent recording level and I think that there is some sort of gain issue. Can anyone help me with these problems? Thanks, Gregory ------------------------------ From: Seth Breidbart Subject: Re: Sony PCM-2500 questions Date: Mon, 6 Jun 2005 16:24:58 -0400 (EDT) "Gregory Morgan" wrote: > I have recently been given an old (read ancient) Sony pcm-2500 (the > two box machine). Are you feeding it a pro-level (+4 dBu) signal rather than consumer level (-10 dBV)? The difference is about 12 dB. Seth ------------------------------ From: Mark O'Donnell Subject: Request for taper philosophies Reply-To: Mark O'Donnell Date: Mon, 6 Jun 2005 18:48:04 -0400 I have a request that I thought that folks on this list might be helpful on. I am taking an audio documentary class and we have to do a four minute piece as our end of class assignment/graduation project. I thought it might be interesting to tell a bit of my own story of how I got into taping and how why I continue and my "philosophy" for doing so. I was thinking that it would be very helpful to get the perspective of others who do this as well as to why we do it and how we explain what it is we do. I would appreciate any brief thoughts you all might have as to: Why you tape shows? What is your personal taping philosophy? How do you explain to your friends why you tape? If you have some brief thoughts that you would allow me to quote in the context of my four minutes, I think it would be helpful and would be much appreciated. Any thoughts? Email me offlist.
