I was involved with such a project when the PCM-2500 had just been imported by Sony and was very new. At that time the "professional" answer was to get an outboard consumer-to-pro adapter box such as the ATI MatchMaker MM100. Later I hacked it by simply using the gold plated RCA/Cinch connectors on the back of a PCM-2500A tape deck directly into and out of consumer gear. I never ran the numbers, but PCM-2500 sound -- both "professional" and hacked -- passed without objection from any listener, no matter how golden (or tin) the ears. The 2500A had quite an issue with tape hub spindle sticking. Good luck. Hope this helps Gary ===== >From: "Gregory Morgan" >Subject: Sony PCM-2500 questions >Date: Mon, 06 Jun 2005 13:16:52 -0700 > >I have recently been given an old (read ancient) Sony pcm-2500 (the two >box machine).
