From: dave nolan <DaveNolanAudio@earthlink.net> Subject: Where to find a "new" DAT machine? Date: Thu, 23 Jun 2005 13:24:35 -0400 Hello all - I know the world has moved on to many new formats but... I am putting together a room for an archival project here in NYC, and they have a sizable number of DATs to be loaded into the computer and preserved. The question is: Does anyone have in stock "new" DAT machines? I'd be happy with almost anything reliable - my personal experience was with Tascam DA-20 MKII's, Tascam 302 dual-well machines, and Sony R500's...I also own a Fostex D-5 in my home rack... AES digital out is a plus but not required - the operative concept is does anyone have a supplier that still has anything in stock that can legitimately be described as "new", as opposed to refurbished, second-hand, etc...? I've had mixed experiences with eBay purchases, and as this project is for a "real client", a "real supplier" would be a plus... Thanks for any advice or direction anyone might be able to provide... dave nolan nyc
From: Barryblade@aol.com Subject: portable DAW suggestions Date: Thu, 23 Jun 2005 14:08:38 EDT I am about to buy a Mac G4 laptop for concert recording 24-bit/96k audio to the hard drive, and then back up to DVD. Could somebody familar with the Mac advise me on what software I should use for tracking (ProTools, Bias Peak, etc.). I would like the option of recording more than two tracks, but not more than 12 or so. Thanks, Barry
