Sorry for those who get defensive on this one. I dont know if you own stock in xm or something (You should really buy stock in Sirius), but it would be nice to actually be pleasantly surprised when spending money on something you used to get for free. I used Sony TCD-100 and DSM6S, excellent sound. If someone is interested in DAT trade, Please send me your lists for a quick trade. Date: Tue, 5 Jul 2005 18:37:07 -0700 (PDT) What's so great about FM radio? 1. The audio frequency is capped at 15.4 khz - this is worse even than a 128kbs mp3. 2. The music played on FM is usually from a compressed source - modern radio stations have their libraries on disk in compressed format. I wouldn't be surprised if the source audio for XM and typical FM stations is identical, probably 192 kbs mp3. 3. FM stations typically "treat" their signal to give it more "oomph". This means boosting the low end and using dynamic compression. 4. Static, stereo fading, and other artifacts that a digital signal won't have. ------------------------------ From: Dean Subject: ISO: Electric Apricot & Karl Denson from the workshop at High Sierra 2005 Date: Tue, 5 Jul 2005 18:20:13 -0700 Anyone tape these shows? Copies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dean ------------------------------ From: "Terry Singla" Subject: Taping in the Rain Date: Wed, 06 Jul 2005 17:32:13 +0000 Hey everyone. I have been taping for a few years now, but have never taped in the rain (going stealth). I was wondering if people could comment on if this is safe, how to keep your equipment & mics dry, etc. In additon, if there is a safe way to do this, any suggestions on where to put your mics so they pick up the best sound w/o getting wet. Or if it's best not to tape, and to just enjoy the show if it's raining, please let me know. Feel free to email me at terrysingla@hotmail.com Thanks in advance.
